Ruby on Douglas Street in Victoria is a gem of a restaurant that truly lives up to its reputation for great food and friendly service. Even with a short fifteen-minute wait to be seated, it was well worth it once we settled in. The space itself is bright, welcoming, and full of energy. A perfect reflection of the lively brunch and lunch scene that Victoria is known for.
From the moment we were seated, the service stood out as exceptional. Our server was upbeat, attentive, and efficient, ensuring coffee refills arrived promptly and that everything came out fresh and exactly as ordered. The staff worked together seamlessly, creating a sense of genuine teamwork and care that elevated the whole experience.
The food was outstanding; clearly made with quality ingredients and attention to detail. Each dish was flavourful, beautifully presented, and generously portioned without feeling heavy. It’s easy to see why Ruby is such a popular local favourite; it strikes that perfect balance between comfort food and creativity.

Victoria is known for its brunch culture… you can go , wait in line for hour(s) or you can go to the Ruby. Really nice food , homey & Comfy, and plenty of in house made produce. Food is great, service is quick , pleasant and friendly … and no wait !! What else can you ask for ? Space between tables ? Plenty. Roomy tables ? You ve got it… all the breakfast drinks and the boozy/ brunchy too… all demographics and good Music… such a good start to your day

Ruby entry was in the lobby of the Best Western Carlton. Easy to go from the lobby to the dining room. We had smoked salmon and bagels. Fantastic tasting Salmon Best in town. Can't wait to get back and try other dishes.
