Absolutely Disrespectful Experience

I walked into this restaurant today expecting to enjoy a meal, but instead I was greeted with one of the most disrespectful assumptions I’ve ever encountered. The staff took one look at me and immediately assumed I was there to pick up a DoorDash order. No greeting, no “How many?”, no “Welcome” nothing. Just pure stereotyping and rudeness.

It’s shocking that a place in a city as diverse as Victoria still can’t treat every customer with basic respect. I wasn’t acknowledged as a guest, just boxed into an assumption because of how I look. If this is how they judge people at the door, I can only imagine how little they care about offering decent service.

I didn’t even stay long enough to try the food , because if this is how they treat people before they sit down, I honestly don’t want to know how the rest of the experience would go.

Plenty of restaurants in Victoria know what hospitality means. Unfortunately, this one clearly doesn’t. I won’t be returning, and I’d strongly suggest others spend their money somewhere that respects all customers.

Uni Modern Japanese absolutely blew me away! From the food to the service to the atmosphere - everything was incredible. The bao bao bao buns were hands-down the best thing I ate on my entire trip - soft, flavourful, and unforgettable. Every roll was fresh, creative, and bursting with flavour combinations that still have my mouth watering! The restaurant itself is stunning - modern, elegant, and warm - and the staff were so friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Truly one of those rare spots where everything is just perfect. Can’t recommend it enough!

I am from Vancouver so judging this place in Vancouver standard.

Food was underwhelming, butter fish was the only dish that was good. The rest were just so so. Given the pricing, I will have to give it a 2 star on food.

It was a great experience having dinner at Uni. The uni here is really, especially good. Our server was Mary, she passionately recommended a few items, and they are great that I might order again.

The food is amazing and sushi is fresh. We went there this weekend and had a good time with my family. The staff is really friendly as well.
