I have to go see a specialist in Victoria in the Uptown complex (drive from Nanaimo) and I always go to Softys for a reward afterwards. I hate having to come here for medical appointments, but it's almost worth it for the treat. I have a dairy allergy and egg intolerance, and there's only a handful of options at home that I can go to, so I love getting to come here after my appointments. The soft serve is SO good and filling, great portions.

Good music, nice cashier but the soft ice itself is garbage. I got the kids version and my 4yr old said "no thanks" halfway through. It was supposed to be vanilla but tasted like fake coconut chewing gum. Good consistency but bad taste (and likely garbage ingredients as well). I won't buy there again.

My friend and I are dairy sensitive - we are used to vegan food and ice “cream” and we were looking forward to the yummy looking desserts. I had passed by this place numerous times wanting to try it and today I finally had the chance. It was such a let down. She had a stormy and me a sundae. Vanilla ice cream tasted like cardboard, cookies were stale or something, and all was just sweet with no flavour. Had to go get two other ice “creams” after that just to satisfy our cravings. Services was nice tho.
Skip this and go buy those “So Delicious” ice cream bars at Whole Foods.

Really expensive and the seasonal stormy didn’t have any fruit in it only some biscoff crumbs ?

The icecream is extremely bland, and way too expensive. Tell me why I bought 2 soft serves and 1 shake and the total came out to $30??? The chocolate and vanilla swirl tastes like cardboard and the cookies and cream tastes like dirt and cream.

The ice cream is good and tastes a little like it has oatmeal mixed in, I wish they had a full cream option as well.

It's a good option for vegan ice cream. However, the vanilla lacked a true vanilla flavor and tasted more like nut milk. The strawberry flavor was slightly better than the vanilla. If you're vegan, this is a great place to try, but for me, it wasn't the best.

I often stop by the Softy’s in the Mill Bay location but decided to stop by the one in Up Town with my boyfriend. Best dairy free ice cream I’ve had and there’s so many different available choices. Between cones, cups and even floats there’s a lot of fun variety. I highly recommend this place. It’s a bit expensive but well worth the cost.

Was excited to try this place until they handed me a tiny limp cone of what ultimately tasted like soft cardboard flavoured ice. For $9 I definitely expected more…

The food was great but staff member pressed the tip button on debit machine. To give a tip to a server is my choice and a complete invasion of my privacy when another person automatically does it without asking. I felt violated that this type of theft happened.

This was the best vegan ice cream I've ever had, and the service was so lovely as well! Worth every dollar you spend. We ate at the Softys at the Malahat Skywalk and it was the perfect treat after going up and down the Skywalk.

Vegetarian options: It's all vegetarian

Dietary restrictions: It's all vegan and gluten free

Kid-friendliness: Kids would love many options

Rain or shine, Softy's at Uptown is the perfect spot to pop in for a quick treat. More than just the delicious dairy-free ice cream — the staff is lovely and genuinely cares about how we're doing when we stop in. We make sure to say 'hi' every time we visit Uptown!

Dietary restrictions: The ice cream is dairy-free and delicious.

Parking: Lots of free parking on the ground level and in the free parkade.

Kid-friendliness: Kids love this place, and the treats are just sweet enough. There's also lots of space to run around in the outdoor square adjacent to Softys at Uptown.

Wheelchair accessibility: The order window and displays are accessible and on the main ground level.
