First time to try Fred’s in West Van - we will be back! A decent variety of salad, meat and seafood dishes along with some unique cocktails and a decent wine list. Next time, we’ll save room for dessert!

Fred's Ambleside is the best spot around, with amazing, high quality food, great menu and drinks. The food is definitely a selling point. The pasta (tomato cream with Italian sausage) and mushroom pizza are great, and the pasta and Italian food is well above average. Portions are huge. Many dishes were excellent, though a couple could have used some adjustments. The design and style of the restaurant is very well done. The atmosphere, decor and vibe are simply the best, offering a quieter dining experience than the typical Vancouver vibe. The restaurant is split into a Cafe and a Restaurant, with nice booths on the restaurant side. The service is phenomenal. The staff are awesome, so much fun, know the menu so well, and are very friendly and customer focused. The bar and restaurant can be packed, but staff still take time to connect with guests and make every person feel valued. Fred's is a fitting centerpiece for an evening of pleasant conviviality, great for a date or a casual to semi-fancy lunch or dinner.
