Shocked by all the glowing reviews. Picture this: you’re sat at the bar watching your $20 small plates be prepared. The “chef” busts out some scissors and cuts open a plastic bag with your pre-cooked food. Puts it in a pan to reheat, and then sprinkles some chives on top before bringing it to your table. I have seen this type of operation before while at the Cheesecake Factory.
This was off putting to say the least. We could have overlooked the bizarre display of “we’re not cooking anything fresh” if it had tasted good. However, everything was bland and room temperature. Will not be back.

This place is a vibe, especially at the bar. Busy, good cocktails. We ate the ceviche which had a good/decent portion of seafood. Could have been more chips for it. Will come back and will recommend this place.
I’ll start by saying Bar Oso is a vibe! Such a cool little bar. I absolutely loved the design and finishing touches. You can tell the owners really took time to make jt beautiful.
We stopped in right when they opened at 4pm to enjoy some tapas. The service was great from the hostess to our actual server. They were also very attentive with refilling g our drinks.
We sampled a few of the menu items, I’ll list them below:
*Berenjenas con miel (crispy eggplant) - this dish was super unique and tasty! It had a good crunch and yummy sauce
*Ceviche mixto + lobster- this dish was pretty good. To be honest the lobster took away from the dish and had a gummy texture.
*Gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns) - this was my favorite dish of the night. Highly recommend!
*Roasted tomato (artisan bread) - I loved this appie! It had such a unique yet craveable taste! My husband and I both picked up on a hint of wine, perhaps a champagne vinegarette or something? Either way, it was very good!
Their cocktail menu also looked amazing! They had plenty of options and had cute drink names. We’ll definitely be back to give them a try!
Was at bar oso a few weeks ago, visiting from Halifax. Didn’t eat there but the drinks were decent. Tom was a great bartender as well!

Talk about next level dining! This place has the most amazing food. Warm atmosphere with an upbeat vibe. The meatballs and beef short ribs are a MUST. Will definitely return every time we’re up in Whistler!
