After booking more than a month in advance for a special 33rd anniversary celebration, we experienced the most disappointing and humiliating experience. We had a reservation booked for 7pm for 8 people and a baby. The day of our planned dinner, a staff member called to ask if we could possibly move our reservation from 7pm to 730pm. It can be a bit tricky with a baby but we said that we could make it work, and happily took the later spot. While my brother in law was on the phone with the staff member, he asked if we could add one more person, as his son had driven to Whistler to surprise them on their anniversary. The staff member said she would check with the kitchen, came back on the phone a min later and said that absolutely, it would be “ no problem”. We all arrive for dinner, had a wonderful waiter settle us in at our table and ordered our cocktails and dinner selections. All of a sudden, we notice a man standing directly behind our table and he’s counting the chairs. He doesn’t bother to introduce himself, so we are all confused. He goes on to inform us, very rudely, that we had booked for 8 people and that we “clearly had 10 people” and that was unacceptable. They have a set menu at this time of the year and apparently it’s a “great strain on the kitchen to have a table of 9 order from the set menu (the baby wasn’t eating off of the set menu) and when my niece mentioned that fact, he rudely told her that “it doesn’t matter, the baby counts as taking up a chair at the table”. Then he told us not to “do anything until he spoke with the kitchen and he proceeded to give our whole table a royal “dressing down” making us feel so unwelcome and embarrassed. It was the most uncomfortable situation. We found out that his name and he was one of the General Managers. Jeff was one of the most pretentious, rude individuals that I have ever had the experience of encountering. He reported back to us after a very tense few minutes, and informed us that it would be “fine this time, but please keep it in mind for next time”. Let me be one of the first in our group to inform you Jeff, that there will NEVER. BE. A. NEXT. TIME. My brother in law followed him away from the table and explained what had happened earlier with the reservation being changed. Jeffwas condescending and said that there was obviously a lack of communication. That is correct Jeff, but the lack of communication was with YOUR staff, and had nothing to do with us. He then, very snidely, asked my brother in law what he “would like him to do about it…again, with attitude. When all was said and done, they in fact, DID NOTHING to make it better. One member of our group was so upset at how we were treated that he didn’t eat any of his meal, and was still charged full price. This has nothing to do with getting a free meal, as we all paid our bills (which amounted to $1000 for the table). Sorry for the “inconvenience” The happy party mood was quickly deflated for us, so instead of the $1000 bill for the table, it would have been a much more lucrative evening for the restaurant had we been treated like guests. Our server apologized profusely for attitude of the manager. The excellent service we received from him, is the ONLY reason we stayed. The other General Manager, Stewart, came over to apologize and ask us to give them another opportunity to “make things right”. Thank you Stewart, we appreciated your interest, but the time to make it right, would have been that evening, which was ruined for our whole table. There are plenty of other choices in Whistler for a beautiful meal with exceptional service, this is not one of them. Not as long as Jeff is part of their team. Not only did you lose numerous customers with our group, but we will be sure to advise anyone and everyone of our friends and anyone else who will listen what a humiliating, disappointing evening we had when we should have been celebrating a marriage of 33 years with love and laughter.

This restaurant is an ABSOLUTE MUST TRY--Best meal we had in Whistler BY FAR. It was pretty easy to get a reservation for a week night, the same week of our stay. From start to finish, our experience was incredible. Everything we ate was fresh, flavorful, and more than delicious. We started with the Minestrone soup, Wagu Meatballs, and Beef Carpaccio--Soup was my favorite and the Carpaccio was my boyfriend's favorite. We then had the Bolognese pasta, the Rigatoni pasta, and the Eggplant Parmesan, and it also did NOT disappoint--Eggplant was cooked perfectly. Our server, Ren, was extremely knowledgable about the wine list, and was even kind enough to give us some additional ski resort recommendations. If you dine here--please ask for him! 10/10 recommend Ren and the Resturant--neither will disappoint!

Pricey place but food is truly awesome overall. We had a few traditional Italian dishes and all 5 stars. The only star deduction is eggplant pamagiano, a bit over baked. Service is great. Very friendly staff!

Il Caminetto offers a dining experience that sets the standard for Italian cuisine in Whistler. The handmade pasta was flawless, with bold, fresh flavors that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The ambiance is refined yet welcoming, and the service was attentive without feeling overbearing. Every detail made the evening unforgettable. A must-visit for Italian food lovers.

Great risotto dish, best I've ever had.
The rice was to the bite, the mouth feel of it felt like a pleasure. Compared to the mushy feeling I've had before.

Service is great. Servers are welcoming, and very conversational.

The other dish I shared wasnt on par with it.

Get the risotto trust 🙏

This restaurant truly epitomizes fine dining at its best. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with every dish meticulously crafted and bursting with flavor. The Mushroom Risotto and Branzino w/Octopus are highly recommended. The service is equally impressive—attentive, professional, ensuring a flawless experience from start to finish. This place sets the standard for a culinary excellence.

Nice drinks and antipasto. I wasn’t very impressed with the carpaccio despite the eye-catching look- likewise with entrée. Desserts can be improved. Service and location is very good.

We didn’t have a reservation but were seated within 15–20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. Everything about our dining experience was amazing. We ordered two appetizers, two mains, and one dessert, and every dish was fantastic. The standout for me was the lobster linguine—I can’t recommend it enough!

What truly elevated the experience was our exceptional server. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, but she was tall, blonde, and I overhead that she was from Australia .Her attentiveness and warm demeanor made our evening at Il Caminetto unforgettable. Thank you for an incredible experience
we’ll definitely be back!

Amazing every time we go. I wish I could remember our servers name (he lives in Squamish) but we sat near a window in the back l left corner if that helps. He was exceptional. Felt like the days when Umberto owned the place. Well done to the Tabletop Team. We will be back!
