I’ve rarely written a negative review of a local business, but our experience at Roland’s this past weekend was genuinely disappointing. The service we received made us feel unwelcome, and after mentioning it to friends the next night, it turns out our experience was not unique. Several other locals in my circle have had similar interactions.
Our server, a man with a moustache, spoke to us in a way that felt dismissive and rude. We were only having non alcoholic drinks, and he made a comment along the lines of “are you going to order anything other than drinks or just take up space?” It immediately set the tone that we were somehow inconveniencing him simply by being there.
We also overheard him tell another table that he was annoyed they wanted to split their bill because it was “more inconvenient and annoying to him.” It was uncomfortable to watch and honestly surprising to hear from a server in a local pub that has always been known for being friendly and welcoming.
I understand that restaurants get busy and that staff have pressures behind the scenes, but basic courtesy should never disappear. It was by far the worst service I have experienced in the area, and unfortunately it seems others have been feeling the same way based on conversations with people in the community.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously because Roland’s has always been a great local spot and I would love to see it return to the welcoming place it used to be.

I’m from out of town, friend and I were looking for a place to watch the CFL with free parking and good food. Discovered this gem. Fires are wonderful! Food was delicious. Service was outstanding and courteous. We had Ola as our server and she was so kind. Highly recommend.

Went here with my family for lunch. We were a larger group of 12 people and they were very accommodating in seating us. Our server however, treated my family like a group of unruly kindergarteners. Everyone was given a number, and referred to as that number. It felt very impersonal, unprofessional and flat out uncomfortable. I was shocked in the way the server tried to embarrass my father in front of the whole table, he thought she was ready to take his order, but she blamed him for speaking over everyone and humiliated him for speaking. Maybe I just don’t understand, maybe the type of clientele here are usually hooligans, but I do not think we deserved to be treated as such.

The place itself is fine -- certainly nothing special to look at -- but the food and the service were great! If you're hungry for dessert, definitely try the apple pie! ?

Quality food. We stumbled in at 9pm as every other restaurant nearby was closed. We thought the food would suck because it's such an unassuming pub, but the food was fantastic! Nachos were well stacked, and the burgers were tasty. Service was lovely too. Cheers!
