A very strange place... First and last time I'll go there. Was sort of looked at weird the whole time (nothing on my face I swear haha) and was given it to go, but was to eat it here. No napkins or glass of water. I am eating (this is lunch time) and I am the only customer there and one of the Punjabi staff members comes near me and films me with his phone... Normally I would ask and make a fuss, but I had a cold, it was a cold winter day. I ate my lunch for 10 mins and left. Not sure why he filmed me nor why he said nothing about it to me. So just a weird group working in there, weird vibes. Bad first impression. Won't be back.

Hillcrest Bakery used to be the gem of White Rock and had such good pastries and breads. However, I was so disappointed when I came in today. Firstly, the bakery had a stale sour smell that was not appealing. I settled on a sandwich, soup and a donut. The girl making my sandwich was friendly and nice but she kept touch her face and wiped her nose twice with the back of her wrist while preparing my sandwich. The sandwich was okay (the bread was delicious) but for a vegetable sandwich that cost $8.50 I would expect more than just cheese, mayo, mustard and a few vegetables (lettuce, cucumber and pickles (I declined the offered banana peppers and onions)). Maybe offer tomatoes? Avocado? Sprouts? Cream cheese?
I also got the cheddar broccoli soup and ended up throwing it out as the thin soups “cheese” wasn’t melted and had a weird texture and overall flavour. The donut was dry and obviously previous frozen and brought in.
I was very pleased to see the wall of pre-bought meals and items that could be taken. I feel this could be better set up though. It’s behind the counter so you can’t read what’s available and also there is a sign to “give the prepaid ticket to the server” - how can you if it’s behind the counter? If I also may suggest adding a “box lunch” option folks can pre-purchase that contains a choice of sandwich, a hot or cold drink, a bag of chips and a dessert bar or cookie?

It's a fabulous neighborhood bakery. Friendly and helpful staff but they can get overwhelmed when it gets busy.
I love their chocolate cake. Very close to homemade. Some other sweets remind me of my German grandmother. Also love their bacon butter biscuits.

Not at all what I expected. Ordered sausage rolls, the taste was terrible. Too bad..I heard great things about this bakery. Unfortunately, I can't say the same.
Cupcakes and cheese Croissant delicious. Neat and clean environment. Maintained good connection with their customers.

Seerat don’t play with her work. My strawberry cake tastes, smells and looks way more better than the actual strawberries itself. I would upload the photo but I ate it already. Highly recommended hell yes for the hillcrest. 😉

DONUTS ARE FROZEN! I placed a $60 order for classic and gourmet donuts (2 dozen donuts ONLY for $60). I was told the gourmet donuts needed to be ordered in advance with a specific pick up time because they are only made on the weekends but I could take the classic ones now. I had to pay for the whole order in advance. After having to wait 30 mins for the classic donuts, when there were enough already made donuts in the display cabinet, I received freezing cold one, like too cold to eat. When I went back to pick up the gourmet donuts 4 days later at the specified time, I was told I had to wait again as they weren't ready. I ended up waiting 20 mins to receive another batch of freezing cold donuts. Just to confirm what I believed to be true that they in fact don't made their donuts fresh, I called and was told that their donuts are FROZEN AND DEFROSTED TO ORDER. I will not be returning which is a real shame because this place use to be amazing before the new owners took over.

The products they bake are amazing. I found the hours short and challenging to make it there by 16:30 on some days. The hours are not posted in the business.

The worst experience ever, went in to get some bread and treats for the family today Sunday July 28 at 945am. They had 4 staff memebers and one even walked by me at the counter. I waited for 15 minutes while there was a man 10 feet infront of me just on his phone.
This use to be the best place with the old owners but now it’s gone to the dumps. Never again will I visit and support this business

I ordered 13 dozen cookies for my wedding dessert. Hillcrest had great prices (best around as far as I saw), easy pick up and payment, good communication from the team, and a very tasty product! Great service!
