Flower Child
Flower Child recently opened its first Utah location in the revamped Foothill Village (1414 Foothill Dr). The restaurant was created by renowned restaurateur Sam Fox, with a focus on fresh, healthy cuisine. Interestingly, there are no fryers, microwaves, or freezers on-site, as everything is made from scratch daily.
Leavity Bread & Coffee
Leavity Bread & Coffee, a new cafe in Salt Lake City's Ballpark District, recently opened its doors at 1000 S. Main Street, offering fresh-baked artisan sourdough and a menu focused on quality, sustainability, and slow-fermentation methods that increase nutrient bioavailability. The cafe, owned by industry veteran Todd Bradley, features a full espresso selection, specialty coffee, and tea, along with baked goods like baguettes, ciabatta, and sourdough toast, all made with organic, heirloom, and whole grain ingredients.
Enrico’s Deli
Enrico's Deli, a new restaurant in West Jordan's Jordan Landing, offers a taste of New York City with its menu of East Coast favorites. Originally located in Murray, the deli has relocated to the area opposite the movie theater. Owner Jessica Lemieux was inspired by her trips to NYC, aiming to bring the flavors and atmosphere of New York bodegas and delis to Utah. The restaurant's menu features items like pastrami, roast beef, and black and white cookies, with many ingredients shipped directly from the East Coast.
HandoSake Sushi
Handosake is a new sushi spot in downtown that puts the spotlight on temaki, or hand rolls, instead of maki. These hand-rolled sushi creations are made fresh and served in a stylish location. Fun fact: this space was once home to The Daily and Bistro 222.
We got the grandma's tteok-bokki at a spice level 1 to share between two people. It was filling and comfortably spicy for my friend who doesn't love spice. I really loved the sauce base, it's probably my favorite tteok-bokki in SLC I've had so far - I feel like in other spots around town, it usually gets too sweet or isn't spicy whatsoever, but this was perfect. I can't wait to go back and try their other options.
They ask if you'd like to dine in or take out, and will give table service. The entire staff was awesome and super polite!
I wish the shop space wasn't so cramped, but I know it can't be helped. I've been meaning to go since they've opened, but each time I've tried to visit until now, they've been packed with a huge line.
They also have a 'toppings by weight' bar but my friend and I were a little confused about how to use it. I went in knowing about it, but with the dine in process, it wasn't mentioned and because the restaurant is so cramped, I didn't feel comfortable asking when it's right up against other tables (and it kind of had closed vibes even though food was present). When my friend saw it after we ordered, she expressed confusion about why they didn't tell us about it or have it listed on the menu. I honestly decided to leave a review to bring this up, because it was a missed opportunity on our experience and the others who dined around us at the same time. I would have loved to use it! Like if the space is too small to use it like their other locations in other states, it'd be nice to have some sort of menu system to still use it!
