I love their California rolls, dynamite, salmon collar and mixed tempura. Service is excellent.

Sushi was really good, wait staff was attentive and friendly. Down side was that menu was sticky and stuck together! Photo is '911 roll on top' 'shisimi to the left' 'spicy tuna on bottom right'

Food was good, but everything else needs work. Shabby surroundings, no cold glasses for beer, soup not hot, on and on. Won't be back.

Just had early, Teppanyaki dinner with husband. The chef put out a show including a onion volcano and all. Fun night out and chef was friendly. I also had a baked mussels appetizer which was yummy. Whenever I go out to Japanese restaurant, I like to have hot sake and I absolutely loved the temperature of the sake at Yamato, Oops, forgot to take pictures.

Avoid at all costs. Do not know why or how this place is still open. Floors sticky, grills not cleaned, plates plastic as are the glasses. Water tastes funky. Dead on a weekday night, so much so that they don't have sushi( not that I would trust it)! Yelp says closed, its not but should be. Windows have strange curtains on them, koi pond empty. Just close already, you're going to end up sickening someone.

Been trying sushi places in and around the Oak Park/Agoura Hills area for the last year and came across this place. Id skip this place honestly. The $16 cut roll, was just ok, the cheaper cut rolls were garbage and the $10 yakitori chicken was inedible. Sorry, but wont be back

Not the best experience here today. Website not updated with opening hours, and nobody ever answers the phone.Service friendly, but forgetful. Food and drink OK but the workstation surround was badly broken and dirty. Not good for somewhere preparing food.

So run down, dirty and basically a complete dump!! Our chef was so extremely boring and uninterested in making it fun for our sons birthday.

What a dump! We go to a tepanyaki restaurant for the experience....unfortunately this restaurant has been completely neglected for what appears to be a while. There are items being stored everywhere and the place is very run down. The service was very rushed and impersonal and the chef at the table would rather be elsewhere! All this at the same hefty price that you would pay at an upscale, well run Japanese steakhouse!!!! Bummer

So sad to give it a one star, but someone could get ill eating here. We used to go more often, years ago. It used to be clean and their food was good. I ate dinner there last night against my better judgment. The place was filthy all the way around. The food was nearly inedible. The meat was so tough I couldn't even bite through it, so I left it. The girl working in the front was also our waitress, she really tried to make things pleasant, but that did not make up for the quality of the food, or cleanliness of the place. They really should just consider closing, or at bare minimum deep cleaning the place.

I'm not sure why the reviews are lower, this place is really good!! I came here for my brother's birthday (party of 8) and we ordered pretty much everything. Everything was incredible because of our chef MARCO! He was amazing. The salad that came with every meal was incredible, the sauce to die for. The miso soup was one of the best I've had. The yaki soba was so good and flavored so richly. All of the veggies were very fresh. The noodles were fresh. Everything was great. THANK YOU MARCO! Our server was also great, especially since some of my extended family members tend to be a little extra when they are at restaurants, which I apologized profusely for. I felt so bad because we came at 7:30pm and it seemed like we were the last ones. Then of course my family extended things by being extra/high maintenance but Chef Marco and our server (whose name I didn't get) were both amazing. Our server was working on a Wednesday night on 2/16/22 if that helps, she needs to be recognized. Marco & our server's understanding of all of this put my mind at ease. Thank you both for everything!!

We have loved Yamatos for years, but we are done. Dinner tonight was the last straw. It was unsafe to walk in because none of the exterior lights worked. The restaurant was dirty and unkempt, and terribly understaffed. The floor was sticky and gross. The bathrooms were so filthy and disgusting we didn't use them. If the bathrooms are that dirty, what does the kitchen look like? The food was bland and portions are small. The staff tried their best, but it's clear they have little to work with. Overall it was depressing to see a long favorite restaurant fall into disrepair and stop providing the quality and experience loyal customers had come to love. Then, much of my family became quite ill shortly after eating. We won't be back. They can keep the outside lights dark, I'm sure they won't be needed much longer anyway.
