Great deli. Reminds me of New York. They have gluten free bread but you have to call in your order. The online order form doesn’t show GF bread as an option.

Zarri's Delicatessen has been a staple in my life since my high school years, and it continues to stand out as a cherished spot on Solano Avenue in Albany. The Poor Boy Deluxe, my preferred selection, consistently meets the highest standards of quality. The combination of salami, beef bologna, mortadella, ham, dry salami, Swiss, and American cheese is expertly balanced, with fresh bread serving as the ideal complement.
The establishment itself embodies the charm of an earlier era, offering a setting that is both quaint and welcoming. The size and ambiance of the deli reflect its commitment to maintaining a close-knit, community-oriented atmosphere. The staff and ownership are notably personable and attentive, ensuring that every visit is met with a sense of familiarity and care.
Zarri's is more than just a deli; it is a fixture of the community. Whether you are a long-time resident or visiting the area, Zarri's offers an experience that combines excellent food with an environment that is both inviting and authentically local.

This Deli has a cozy vibe. They have great authentic Italian products. Their sandwiches are delicious.
Been coming here for 40 years. The best of old world Italian delicatessen selection. Love the “ classic poor boy”!!!

I've heard of this place for a while and finally decided to try it out. i called ahead and got the pastrami cold cut sandwich on ciabiatta, no cheese, light on mayo. it was a surprisingly tasty, no-nonsense sandwich :)

If you want to go to a place and stand there while 3 people never acknowledge you so you leave, this is it!

We have been here a few times. Today the Tri tip sandwich was a 10 out of 10! Best I have ever had. Tender and juicy!! You have to try it!!!
Bread was hard as a rock, not cool! Got the sourdough - big mistake.
So I'll start by saying I really, really try my best to give unbiased, factual reviews. With that said, Zarri's has unfortunately fallen to the wayside over the years. I'm giving three stars just due to the fact I have fond memories of coming here when I was younger. I really wish I could give them a better review, however, there are some things seriously lacking in their approach and in the products they offer for sell.
The wait staff were standoffish and I'm not sure why. Upon my arrival I was met with Akward silence and blank stares. The counter person skipped me in line and attempted to serve the guy behind me as if I was invisible. Fortunately, the gentleman behind me spoke up and told her I was first in line. I wasn't going to say anything because I'm definitely not a confrontational person.
The sandwich was just "Okay". There was really nothing of substance to mention. The sandwich wasn't horrible but the sourdough bread was hard and as sharp as glass (Cut my gums).
Being one of the few old school delicatessens left in the area, I really want Zarri's to succeed! Please take this review to heart and perhaps learn from it and apply new business practices in the future.
Best meatball sandwich in the bay!
Sandwiches are really solid. Friendly service. Great local spot
