The food here was pretty great, especially the prime beef dish that we ordered! Waiters are pretty attentive, although compared to some of the other Chinese places around here, I felt like these guys had a lower level of English. Sometimes a waiter would bring a dish over, but wasn't sure if it was our dish and neither did we, because we couldn't understand what the name of the dish was. So hopefully you have a friend or two that can translate, otherwise there might be some miscommunication.

(Translated by Google) The waiter's attitude is average and the food is really slow. I don't know what the reason is. The wave of American food that comes with us is all together. We still have nothing to come. It’s too angry. There is no appetite.(Original)服务员态度一般 而且上菜真的是慢 不知道是什么原因跟我们一起来的一波美国人菜都上齐了 我们还是什么都没来 太生气了 一点食欲都没有了 差评没说的

For a solidly executed Sichuan meal, swim no further than Mr Fish. (Ah, cringe-worthy puns...) THE FOOD Fresh chili pepper with beef: This was a standout dish. The flavor of the sauce was so well-rounded and paired extremely well with a hot bowl of rice. The paper-thin slices of beef were soft, tender, and fatty (not to mention plentiful). Rated as a two-chili dish, this had a noticeable kick but was totally manageable for anyone used to a little spice in their food. Stir fried pig intestine: If you're a fan of pig intestine, then you'll most likely enjoy Mr Fish's rendition. Soft with a slight crisp, savory, and fried with slices of celery. Steam short ribs: Meat covered in glutinous sticky rice. Tell me that doesn't sound downright delicious! This isn't a dish that you see on offer very often, and Mr Fish happens to do a pretty good job making it. The rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the meat was pretty tender. Dan-dan noodles: The noodle texture was good, but the sauce was a little lacking. Chalk this up to personal preference, as I tend to enjoy this dish with a creamier sauce. Bean jelly: We got this appetizer as a freebie with a check-in and a minimum purchase of $50. The flavor was good; the texture wasn't quite as smooth as I'd have liked. This one was rated as a three-chili dish, and while it was definitely the spiciest out of all of the dishes, it still wasn't that spicy. Rice: They do not skimp on the rice here. Decent quality and cooked fairly well (no burnt spots, mushiness, etc.). Water: Just a note, they use those plastic Coca-Cola cups for the water. Those tend to hold onto flavors through washes, so I'd recommend sticking with the hot tea. If anyone at the restaurant actually pays attention to this review, please switch to glass cups. THE INTERIOR It's quite spacious in here with plenty of room to move about. It looks like a traditional restaurant that's taken a few steps to become more modern but hasn't really nailed it yet. THE SERVICE I'd say slightly above average (or at least above my expectations). The servers were very nice and patient. OVERALL I'd drive back here again for the food. The beef dish in particular was totally worth the trek from Orange County. Now, you'd think that I'd have ordered a fish dish given the name of the restaurant, but I guess that will just have to wait until our next visit.

There's been a bunch of Szechuan places opening up in 626/San Gabriel Valley and these places can definitely be a hit or miss. Since Mr.Fish opened up not too long ago next to the infamous Boiling Crab, I finally got the chance to try it today since BC wasn't open for lunch and I was craving something spicy! I came here with my wedding caterer to try out this place. Upon arrival on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:45pm, there was only one other pair dining in the entire place. Was this a bad sign? I had no idea, so we got to ordering the food since we're here already. We ordered toothpick lamb, stir-fry beef in chili broth, chili pepper with kidney, and spicy pig feet. A pot of hot tea was given and a side dish of chili-marinated seaweed which was delicious to start off our meal. The dishes came out one by one and each did not disappoint. They were not filled with the intensely numbing peppercorns that make you feel like your mouth disappeared nor did they make you sweat so much you just want to run into a freezer. The chili, seasonings, herbs, and meat they used were really well balanced that made the meal just memorable. The last dish that came out was the spicy pig feet which, for anyone that likes pig feet, knows that it takes a long time to make them tender and soft. I was expecting to bite into tough skin or thick and hard meat but it really surprised me when it was super tender, juicy, and had an amazing amount of sauce and texture (the temperature was also super hot so I had to put it down after a bite!) Service wise, the waiter was really nice and informative about the dishes. My caterer, an older and very experienced chef, really loved the food as well! I would definitely come back whenever I'm craving spicy foods again and be sure to share with my friends and family about this new place!

You can see the kitchen on the tv monitor while you are eating. The steamed pork rib is very good. And so is the steamed egg with clam is very tasty.

Service was great, and it's as safe a place as any (read: not scary) to take someone for their very first "ma la" meal. There's even a monitor so you can watch the chefs stir-frying up your food (presumably this is also to prove the kitchen is clean??). We happily walked past the throngs of people waiting for Boiling Crab and had a nice Sichuan style dinner here.

It is raining and quite chilly tonight, so I was craving for some Szechuan or Yunnan food and dessert. My favorite Yunnan & Szechuan cuisine, Yunnan Garden near my home, has recently been closed down for good. Luckily, I found two inexpensive Szechuan restaurants having delivery service (which is awesome for rainy weather like tonight): Spicy City on Grubhub and Mr. Fish Szechuan bistro on UberEATS. I was debating whether to order from Spicy City or Mr. Fish, but then, I decided to give Mr. Fish a try because I went to eat at Spicy City twice before. Seeing good rating on Yelp, plus many pictures on Yelp show their delicious food and their clean restaurant, I was confident that this restaurant is legit, so I ordered a bunch of my favorite Szechuan dishes on UberEATS, such as sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce, Chongqing spicy chicken, fried popcorn lamb (toothpick cumin lamb), sliced pork with garlic sauce, tangyuan/glutinous rice balls in rice wine soup, iced bean jelly in wine soup, and I also added 4 portions of steamed rice. Once the UberEATS driver arrived and handed in my food in one medium-sized plastic bag, I questioned him "Is this all my order?? Because I ordered a lot more items than these." The UberEATS driver had no clue, and he told me to ask for refunds for the food items I did not receive, which were sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce, sliced pork with garlic sauce, iced bean jelly in wine soup and 4 portions of rice. However, I decided to choose the "Re-order" option for the missing items instead of getting a refund because I really want to try sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce, sliced pork with garlic sauce, and iced bean jelly in wine soup from this new restaurant. I also gave the restaurant a phone call to inform them about the missing items from my order after I sent the "re-order" request on UberEATS. The lady answering my phone sounded very polite and nice. In the end, they said that they will refund my money for the food item they were running out tonight, and they also said that my iced bean jelly in wine soup and rice were free of charge. However, I was not sure how they were able to sort this thing out on UberEATS. The second UberEATS driver arrived, and I found out that I got my sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce, and iced bean jelly in wine soup and 1 portion of rice. I guess they were out of sliced pork with garlic sauce tonight even though I placed my order around 6 PM.... Furthermore, I did not see any refunds on my UberEATS app or the credit card I used to pay for my UberEATS order as what they told me, so I went ahead to call UberEATS customer service, and UberEATS refunded my money for 3 portions of steamed rice and the sliced pork with garlic sauce. I still paid for the 1 portion of steamed rice and the iced bean jelly in wine soup even though I was told that my iced bean jelly in wine soup and rice were free of charge. Well, I guess I won't have a chance to taste their sliced pork with garlic sauce tonight, but I hope the two UberEATS drivers were happy since I always tip my UberEATS drivers even though the chaotic food ordering experience tonight was not my fault. Perhaps, I should have just asked for a refund as what the first UberEATS driver told me. Or perhaps, I should have ordered from Spicy City via Grubhub. Anyways, I enjoyed whatever food and dessert I received tonight because they are delicious, and I did not see MSG crystals on my Chongqing spicy chicken and fried popcorn lamb (toothpick cumin lamb). Also, the lady sounded very polite and nice on the phone. Hence, I gave this restaurant 2 stars despite the awful experience I had tonight. Maybe, I will give this restaurant another try someday, not sure when.... Maybe... once they sort out the issues with their UberEATS ordering system because this was the first time more than half of my order went missing on UberEATS.

I marginally came from Chengdu, Sichuan. I love Sichuan food as well as my wife although she was from Beijing. I drove 40 miles from Irvine with my family to Mr. Fish (成都味道) to taste this new authentic Sichuan style dishes on the Christmas day.. We have a party of 5 to order $288 package with some modification. All dishes are made exactly same as I eat at the authentic restaurants in Sichuan, China. The price is reasonable vs the quality of the food plus the wine. If you like the authentic Sichuan food, you definitely should go with Mr. Fish(成都味道).

My favorite Sichuan restaurant in LA!!! I'm Chinese, a Sichuan food lover and have personally been to Sichuan three times. This place truly lives up to its name - "Chengdu Taste". The food is just as good as when Sichuan Impression (锦城里) first opened. (Unfortunately Sichuan Impression has been so disappointing in the past year) I've also been to so many other famous LA area Sichuan restaurants and so far no one is comparable to Mr Fish. What can I say? So authentic and tasty that every time I was here I wished my stomach were bigger. Also, the food has no MSG in it. The food here never made me drink one gallon of water two hours later like some other Sichuan restaurants did to me. The service is decent. The servers here are very prompt and attentive to your needs. You can also view the chefs cooking in the kitchen from the TVs hanging on the wall. My only complaint is that parking is usually pretty full in the nearby garage, and I had to drive all the way to the top of garage to park.

I really liked their food, very tasteful and authentic. For some reason every time we went, there were not many people. Maybe it's fairly new opened, but I did hope they can sustain the business for a long time.

Don't let the pricey reviews turn you away. It may seem a bit more expensive compared to other restaurants, but the portions are big and it is very delicious. I had the clear broth spicy fatty beef and it was delicious! They also have lunch time specials for noodle soups so stop on by and give it a try!
