I tried the egg tarts here for the first time because of a post I saw on IG. it also replaced what used to be my favorite dessert crepe store ! I got the portuguese egg tarts and they were fine. they were pretty oily and the middle wasn't very sweet. overall, I think there are better options in the 626

Came right when they opened and at the time, they only had Portuguese egg tarts available. It was nice and hot, very fresh, and very delicious. They also have a section of bottled and refrigerated drinks to choose from. It's a very small place with a few tables for 4 people to sit at each. You can enjoy your treats there or take it home.

I went back to try the food and it did not disappoint. Char siu rice plate was exceptional. Pork was nicely flavored, tender and juicy. Fried egg was a nice touch that added creaminess from the yolk. Again, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

As a Hong Konger, I appreciate they cooked the claypot on the gas stove. The concentration of flavours from the sausages and rice are good. They are generous with the amount of sausages and char Siu ( bbq pork). If they add just 1-2 pieces more of choy then level up the dishes because of the balance. I didn't take picture of the Portuguese tart, but the custard tastes good. Side note, they have a parking lot for parking and friendly customer service.

How should I start? My friend recommended this place and she said they have the best Portuguese egg tart. I checked the reviews on Yelp and the reviews look legit. I went on Wednesday and hoping to try this place but they were closed from 4pm-5pm for their break. I went again today during my lunch break from work and they are open. I walked in through the back door from the parking lot. This is a very tiny place. There are only a few tables. I notice they do serve rice dishes with char siu (Cantonese style bbq pork) and chicken. I walked to the front counter and there was no one there. I had to get their attention by saying "excuse me can someone help me". I was excited and ordered 8 pieces of the Portuguese egg tart. I brought them back to the office and wanted to offer my coworkers some. Before I make the offer, I tried it first. It tasted so bad that I had to spit it out. It is the WORST Portuguese egg tart I ever had in my life. The Portuguese egg tart tasted like that it is mixed with old char siu oil. Imagine your egg tart tastes like old rotten meat! I feel this is cross contamination from the char siu they serve. Food handling and cross contamination should be the basic of cooking. I am writing this review to bring it to their attention so they should improve on this. I barely write bad review but this is worst experience I ever had. BTW this place will never be comparable to Jim's Bakery. Jim's Bakery has the best Portuguese egg tart!

Chong Yuen Fong's menu is hugely in flux. Of the 3 entrees on their menu at the time (Macau style chicken rice, Char Siu plate, and Bak Khut Teh), only char siu was available so 3 of us ordered 2 plates to share. The staffer explained that the other two dishes are no longer being served and they were considering transitioning to a menu of Cantonese-style claypot rice. The signature Portuguese style egg tarts were available, as were the daily soups. However, don't really see how egg tarts and soup constitute a meal. On the plus side, the egg tarts were very flaky and the custard well flavored with the perfect, barely set texture. The char siu plate was very good too - with a lot of white rice, well cooked char siu, a nicely fried sunny side egg and some greens. I would skip the soup next time, it wasn't flavorful.

Interesting decor. We got the Portuguese egg tarts and cheese lava egg tarts. The lava egg tarts were the standout of the two for me. Price was very fair - about $1.38/egg tart and 2.48/cheese tart. Parking is available behind the store in a shared lot with Kang Kang Food Court.

This review is solely based on their Portuguese egg tart and creamy cheese tart. They are located in the same plaza as kang kang and several other businesses, so parking in this plaza can be pretty hard, depending when you come. The prices are cheap for the tarts, but they are also smaller than the tarts I'm used to seeing. They had a few small tables and seats, but not good for large groups. Portuguese egg tarts: just okay. The crust had layers, but lacked in flakiness and crispiness. It was just crumbly. The filling was very light. You might enjoy it more than us, if you prefer desserts not too sweet. Creamy cheese tart: as the name suggests, it is creamy. I liked that it was warm, when we received them. The cookie crust was buttery but also crumbly. We enjoyed the creamy cheese tart more than the Portuguese ones. I do wish both were more crispy, but overall they were still enjoyable.

Soups were good, but egg tarts had a strong taste of lard. Not sure what oil they put.The stew is delicious, but the egg tart smells like pork fat. I don’t know what kind of oil was used.

Delicious food with big portions! Very authentic and nutritious cuisine. Soup was very tangy and hearty! Excellent service, very attentive to needs, and egg tarts were amazing!

They easily have the best egg tarts I have found outside of HK. I recommend the slightly burnt ones if you can pick. For those who don't know, the HK/Macao Portuguese egg tarts taste very different from the Portuguese Pastel de nata tart, and are less like a sweet dessert. If you want the actual Portuguese tarts you can find a close one at Paris Baguette.

They don't have a huge menu selection but it's worth of a try! Mainly serve different types of herbal soup on each day of the week. They are also known for the egg tarts! Unfortunately, they were out of the Macau chicken rice and the lava cheese tart :( We ordered the soups from the Monday menu, bitter melon soybean pork rib soup and vegetable pork rib soup. Both soups came in a small ceramic pot, soup flavors are very clean and natural. Didn't seem like they add a lot of seasoning! Which is how I like it. Price is $8.99 per order. The presentation of the BBQ Pork Rice really reminded me of Hong Kong. Comes with BBQ pork with side of green veggies, sunny side up egg drizzled in sweet soy sauce. I did wish the bbq pork were a bit fattier. But overall the rice dish was very delicious. The must order and my personal favorite, is the Portuguese Egg Tarts!!! It has a very soft and light sweet egg filling with flaky crust. Just wish they have the Cheese tart available as well! I will sure be back to try it out! Tables are available in the hallway and inside the restaurant. Inside space is very limited. Mostly 2 seaters and a few large tables. You normally order your food in line and the server will bring out the food. Will definitely come back for the Macau chicken rice and the cheese tarts!

Tried the soup here and it was literally just water with some ingredients. No flavor whatsoever. Would not recommend this place for the soup.

Went here today with my wife. Got the 2 entrees, 1 soup, and 2 egg tarts. Everything was delicious and the soup came out piping hot. The service was kind and efficient. You pick your own spot to sit and order at the counter. Would return again for lunch.
