The gyukatsu didn’t feel worth the $40 price tag.

The oyako don in particular was quite disappointing—it was overly salty, and instead of using chicken like the traditional version, it was made with katsu and egg.
On top of that, the rice was completely soaked, so it ended up feeling more like rice soup than a donburi.

Food isn't bad. Service is pretty good. I didn't think it was anything special, but my girlfriend enjoyed it. So if you're looking for a nice date spot, this is not a bad choice. Just make sure you come on payday.

Over all a solid and fulfilling meal i got the spicy-k beef bowl. Beef and veggies were generously seasoned and portions free miso soup and water upon seating i would have like to give it a 5star review but my meal came with barely any rice which wasn't that big of an issue for me but it is a rice beef bowl. Service was spectacular 1 guy waiting and refilling all tables in a timely manner all in all as I stated before good spot would recommend to a friend

Photos of menu and TV screen does not match what is served.
1) premium gyukatsu sides came out to be plain cabbage, kimchi daikon, and corn and celery, some thousand island and soy sauce
Vs picture actual Japanese sides.
2) spicy chicken cream fried noodles was a tomato base with cabbage and chicken. TV video advertisement was brown color almost likely curry. Flavor was ok.
3) cold tofu was not of quality tofu and drenched in some soy based sauce.
75$ meal.

This place is pricey for what you get. Portions are on the smaller side so don't come hungry.

Saw this place making their rounds on social media so I decided to give them a try. I love the vibe of this place. Me and my partner both got the beef gyukatsu and it was good. I just felt a little bit rushed because the fire went out before I could cook all my meats. They have a lot of different items that I would love to come back and try in the future. Staff was great, my water was always filled.

Came here with some friends, the place is quite empty and quiet - closes early as well (3pm ish on weekday). The parking is shared with an apartment complex and also some plaza including sprouts. So it is a bit packed to try to look for parking, there is also street parking as well.

The food is pretty good, I had gotten a spicy pork katsu plate, which came with so much food I had to bring some back. However because of the amount of cheese and sauce they added it makes the fried part soggy which i think loses its value in being a katsu. (I am a katsu fan and love me some crunch, but when there isn't, you might as well just make it grilled because why else am i taking in cholestrol and oil if i dont need to you know what I am saying?) Also its kind of sad that for that specific plate it does not allow a $3 add on of curry (which is just the sauce anyways) so they said there is no way to add it unless i order it separately.

Overall, was not too impressed with the place since all the food seemingly isn't to die for and I had been to other curry houses and katsu places that are much more delicious and perhaps that was why it was so empty.

Seems quite new too, so not sure if its a weekday thing.

The waiters are nice though, but i didn't go there for just nice waiters. Prob would come back as a hangout but wouldn't be my top choices.

Hum... The flavour of the ramen soup was strange and bored. The Cube Beef Don tasted very similar to Chinese cooking and season style.
Warm ambiance and service to hangout with friends.

Came here on the weekend with a party of 6 since we were closeby in Pasadena and it was a short drive down to Alhambra. Went to a Chicken place the night before so everyone agreed on Japanese food. Was seated quickly and decided on the popular cream curry udon that was featured in social media.

Food came out quickly, though I was kind of dissapointed with the dish. It was rather bland. Everyone however enjoyed their dish so maybe I should have ordered something different, like their gyukatsu since thats what their name implies🤔 Service was good, maybe if in the area again Ill give this place another chance. 4 stars🤙

Been here twice and it’s been just okay both times! It’s hard to compete with shops like Marugame in little Tokyo only 15mins away. The udon is consistently a bit soft - the curry udon has good flavor; the mazesoba flavor profile is off - kinda sweet compared to Menya Hanabi in Arcadia. The stir fried udon is even more sweet. Their gyukatsu meat is unique, and the meat quality is pretty good, but I’m still not sure that it’s worth the price. The best thing I’ve gotten here is the plain buckwheat soba noodles with dipping broth. You won’t have a bad meal here, and the service is solid - it’s just that there are so many better places nearby.

I came here for my friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy yet at around 6pm, but the restaurant gradually became packed as the night progressed. The ambiance is very modern yet I dig their lightly polished wooden tables, chairs and benches.

I ordered their Kyoto Ramen. Our orders were ready within 10-15 minutes and I truly dig the presentation on the ramen. It doesn't stop there. The umami flavors were phenomenal while the ramen noodles were fresh. The broth wasn't too salty and it blended well with the noodles, pork pieces, semi-boiled egg, seaweed and bokchoy. Overall, the Kyoto Ramen tasted identical to what I savored in Japan a few years ago. To me, this is truly authentic. I look forward to trying other authentic dishes at Kyoto Gyukatsu.

The salad dressing is way too much. The beef is not that good either, not fresh at all.

The food is excellent. It's my first time in this restaurant. My experience was very good, although we didn't speak English very well. The waiters make an effort to serve you as it should be. I will definitely return to try more of their menu. My wife stayed. nice to meet you

I always order the kalbi gyukatsu set. The meat is super tasty but the meat tends to be inconsistently sliced. Sometimes it's thick, sometimes thin, sometimes small, sometimes big. Doesn't detract too much from the taste but I prefer it sliced not too big and thick. Service is efficient with no fuss. They're always quick to relight the burners if I don't cook my meat fast enough.

Parking is plentiful but this location can get really busy during prime time hours.
