So I have been to the Popping Yolk Cafe 3 times. I will summarize my review here for each visit. The breakfast atmosphere here is quite nice for a lazy brunch day visit. The staff service is adequate. My main concern is the pricing versus food quality. The first time I ordered the Classic Benedict at $18.50. The Hollandaise was creamy but bland. The poached eggs are cooked well while the default vinaigrette dressing for the salad was sickly sweet and lacked layers combing sweet, heat, and acidity. It feels like a generic bottled vinaigrette at any diner. The plate also, was unfortunately too small and crammed with salad resulting in the English muffin underneath the benedict getting soggy from the leaves’ mousture. The potatoes were overcooked, dark brown instead of golden, very crispy to almost hardened, leaving a slight bitter after taste. I would give this a 5/10. A while later, I thought to give Popping Yolk a second chance and went with the Pulled Pork Benedict at $18.65. The pulled pork was juicy and not dry but was flooded with BBQ sauce which again seeped under and soaked the English muffin, and overwhelmed any poached egg flavors. The salad and potatoes had the same issue as our previous visit. On my latest and final visit, because I’m forgiving and stupid, I ordered the classic breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and comes with the standard potatoes and salad. The scrambled eggs were cooked well, fluffy and creamy. The bacon however was so overcooked it tasted like salted wood chips. The breakfast sausage lacked any spice other than syrupy sweet. The issue with the potatoes and salad persisted. So what is my final verdict? For 10 bucks, I wouldn’t complain. But at 20 dollars a main dish, the quality is on par with many chain diners and not worth the visit.

Honestly, i came here because Denny’s was packed. I ordered the strawberry pancake stack and it was rubbery and didn’t seem fresh (wasn’t hot). You also pay before, which I’ve never done ever. They ask for a tip at the very beginning which seems ridiculous because I didn’t get my food or experience the service(i didnt tip lol). Service wasn’t spectacular, the food was eh, felt like it was frozen pancake. No wait like the others though because i was alone and got a bar seat immediately.

We ordered the Cajun Benedict eggs, and they tasted nothing like the Cajun spice. We also ordered the kimchi eggs, Benedict, and they tasted nothing like kimchi. They charged us three dollars each person for swapping out the potatoes for seasoned fries. The chicken had no flavor, and they put no sauce on the eggs for the egg Benedict.
They also tend to serve their plates with a so-called salad. That is just a mix of mixed greens with corn and tomatoes.
Other than that, the service was fast, and it was a very clean environment, but I do not recommend the food is not that great for the rating it has.

Took my daughter on her birthday for breakfast, but my food was never served. No one checked in on us so I simply waited for my daughter to be done then went to the cashier to request a refund. Management did not offer an apology or explanation. Only apology I received was from cashier which had nothing to do herself with the lack of service and accountability for this place.

Where do we start, arrival was OK the restaurant look clean inside,There was not too much moment of humanity between the person who was helping at the register not even a high or good morning but then they did their job by Taking my order , We got a table Right away, we only order one omelette the barbecue pulled pork and we get one order of pancakes, Nutella and banana.
The omelette was OK. I do believe a needs a bit more flavor on it, when I start eating the whole thing it was not really like tasty at all , my daughter ordered the banana and Nutella pancake, which barely has Nutella FYI The pancakes were good but again very small amount of Nutella on it , $45 price on it for this two items I don’t think it’s worth it but the place looks really nice. Maybe they can do a little bit better on recipe execution and coaching service being a little bit more friendly.

I have been here once before, but decided to review this time since their service has not improved. Both times I’ve gone the place is almost empty. You pay first before getting your food, but because I want to see what kind of service I receive I didn’t leave tip at the front. I only gave two stars because even though the food is on the pricier side it is delicious. The service is NOT GOOD. The waiter visited our table once after we sat down then once more to refill waters without asking if we needed anything. Noticed that they only came out to take the order and bring the food but then would hide in the back. I felt bad at first for not leaving tip, but after the service I was really glad I didn’t.

Great option for breakfast or brunch in Alhambra. I got the banana toffee French toast which had a great texture and the perfect amount of sweetness. The crab Benedict was crispy and savory. My favorite part of this meal was this juicy burger. All plates were delicious. Service was great and the restaurant is so cute!

Everything here is fine. But that is the problem, it's all good, not amazing. The crunchy French toast is gourmet fair food. My eggs Benedict plate had a huge area of salad where more potatoes (which were the highlight of the plate) could have gone.
Overall basic food, greatly overpriced.

Very cute standard brunch place. If you can stand the long wait times the food is certainly delicious.

This place is so amazing. The food was fresh. It was crunchy. It was tasty check! The customer service is great. The people that took care of us and the cashier register were nice. They asked if they were first time if we needed help with the menu. I think they also have like some drinks that I was too sure about the young server that gave me a taste of one of their drinks just to like taste test and it worked out. I ended up getting one of their special drinks at the end there I wanna say for the most part I dislike going to restrooms in restaurants because they’re dirty due to people making them dirty or keeping them dirty but at this location, everything was very clean and yeah, we were truly satisfied. We were so happy super happy. I highly recommend if you are near the Alhambra area. This is a nice place to go for breakfast for brunch and I know they do close early so you might wanna check their social media website to see more information in regards to the days and times that they are opening at the time that they close

Nice place but foods are greasy. I have ordered crab cake Benedict. Only filler and imitation crab meat $22.95 deep fried French toast tasted good but also greasy.

Such a yummy delight! Whether it's early breakfast or a late brunch, if you're craving delicious breakfast food, you can't go wrong with Popping Yolk Cafe.

The fresh orange juice is as fresh as it get without any excess like sugar or additive, and it has just a little bit of pulp.

We had the BBQ Pulled Pork Benedict with crispy potato cubes and salad, and while the salad was not too bad, the Benedict and potato were great. Both made a savory combo that had a lot of flavor and texture. The BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet, the pulled pork was soft, and the Hollandaise sauce wasn't overpowering.

The Ube pancake was the real star though. My friend never had ube before and she was so amazed and how good it was. I love ube so this was right up in my alley. Every bite was so enjoyable and the pancake never felt too heavy and was fluffier than I thought. It was such treat to eat this!
