RIP Side Pie 🍕 : A casualty of the Eaton Canyon Fire in early January 2025 😔
Nice wood fired pizza place with a lighted outdoor patio area.

We order pizza from side pie at least once a week in our house. Our kids love it as much as we do. Thanks side pie for existing. You are always a highlight in our week!

Kid-friendliness: My daughters loves the dining area in the back and the big family style picnic tables. Very relaxed vibe where I didn’t have to worry about my little girl being disruptive.

Side pie is a delight. Definitely one of the best pizza joints in the San Gabriel valley. I've been here a few times and service is always friendly. The pizzas come fast and they're just so gosh darn good. Usually if I'm meeting up with friends and a pub or brewery, I'll stop by and I'll pick up a pie. So I guess I've been here more than a few times :-). So they also have a back patio where you can sit down and eat and sometimes they have live music back there. All in all great people. Great pizza. I recommend it highly stuff your face kids.

The pizza had burn bubbles at the edges. It was also super thin and NOT in the good sense. The little toppings it had seemed to be TOO much for the flimsy crust to withstand it's weight causing each slice to droop when picked up.
A real disappoint.
The meatballs were decent 👌 ( they sell a side of meatballs in sauce) The size was fair for today's prices, and I cut it into pieces to eat with the burnt bubbled crust pieces. 😆
60 plus dollars for the two pies, and the side of meatballs. I wouldn't say it was money well spent, but..............

Breakfast time service was sparse and my dish was okay but my wife had the eggs Benedict and they got it just right. I had ordered steak frites before and they were pretty good. We live really close by so I’d definitely go again. nice

Maybe the best pizza ever
I had the misfortune of dining at this pizza place, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. We ordered several pizzas of these three flavors: vegan, pepperoni, and margherita. All three were the worst thin crust I’ve ever had—you could barely handle them without them falling apart. They were extremely oily and absolutely drenched in sauce, with barely any toppings, and each slice came with entire garlic cloves for the vegan one. How appetizing, right? As if that wasn't enough, the setup of the place is just bizarre. After ordering, you're sent on a little adventure carrying on your beverages on the street to find the "outdoor patio" all the way in the alley. But the real cherry on top? The bathroom. It's one of those charming, non-hygienic public restroom cabins. Honestly, the gas station bathroom across the street is a step up—if you’re into that sort of luxury. I’m never coming back here, and I certainly won’t recommend it to a friend. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

The service is fantastic, we were the first customers today for lunch and they were just SO cool to my young kids.
Even in the summer the back garden was perfect.

Awesome experience and pizza here! Funky place where you walk in to order at a counter, grab your drinks, and go. If you want to eat in they have a big patio in the back where they'll bring your pizzas out to you. The pizzas are awesome. They are a modern artisinal cross between traditional neopolitan and NYC style pizzas with a thin crust. The pizzas are beautifully charred with great leoparding and the ingredients are all really high quality. Highly recommend and will be back!

Just left this place with my friends. We drove 20 min to get to this place. The young lady at the front greeted us with, "just so you know, we are closing in 30minutes, so if you are planning on eating here, you can't". Guess she really wanted to go home on time. Either way, we chose to take our leave as we didn't feel welcome. Is the pizza any good? I guess we'll never know...

First let me say, the restaurant looks amazing and the people working the counter are easy to talk to and kind. When it comes to pizza, Side Pie is literally the worst pizza I've had in the "thin crust" genre. Coming from New York, thin crust pizza should be something in the world of "Joe's" and has support, crunch and is easy to chew/digest. Side Pie pizza was SUPER OILY and literally the thinnest pizza I've ever had, and not in a good way. We ordered 2 pizzas and by the time we were half through both (even with keeping the box shut) the pies were stiff, cold and chewy. I think after tip, we paid $63 for the two pies. Crazy. The experience did make me have a creative moment and I'm getting a couple of t-shirts made that say, "Side Pie Pizza Made me by a Prime Pizza T-shirt" Moral of the story is. The place is beautiful and the staff is kind, though they lack the experience or effort to manage complaints, the prices are insane and the pizza just isn't good for take away. Maybe it's good if you eat it there, right away? There's really no way to cut it. If you want good pizza in Altadena find a different spot.
