We tried Moonrise Pizza for the first time paasing through towards Lake Tahoe and honestly loved it. The crust was different from any pizza we’ve had — thick, airy, and crispy full of flavor — and the toppings actually tasted fresh and creative, not the usual stuff you get everywhere else. The whole place has a cool small-town vibe, super chill and family-friendly, which made it even better. Definitely worth the drive and something we’ll be coming back for again. Love there historic town.

This place is a must check out if you are ever in the area for wine tasting or just passing through. Their pizza tastes like they actually care about the quality of ingredients and doing something unique. Highly highly recommended.

Nestled in the smallest city in the state (population 205!), this pizza place punches way above its weight.... We drove a little out of our way because we were intrigued, and am so glad we did! We shared the Cali-ente, but I wish we could go back so I could eat my way through their menu as it was hard to choose. Quirky decor, Wes Anderson quotes on the wall, and a deep dish, flavorful pizza, with crunchy cheese creeping up the sides.... Mmmmm....
(And the tiniest city is cool to wander round too!)

Very good pizza, fun atmosphere, about as good as you can expect from such a small town.

For your food therapy today, I feature an unexpected frou-frou find in the Gold Rush country from Moonrise Pizza.
My family and I ordered pizzas and this is what arrived, rectangular goodness of delicious toppings on focaccia bread for a unique twist.
The bread was delightfully light and airy, but the best thing about it was how the edges crisped up for that elusive delicious crunch. The lunch seemed so decadent.
You never know what you'll find out there when you take the backroads.

Got the Tony vodkaroni. Really sad 4 slices jalapeño on entire pizza and little pesto. Plenty of pepperoni. Very lite on sauce.

Last weekend, I woke up and wanted pizza for lunch. Not just any pizza, no sir. I wanted to try Moonrise Pizza in the tiny Motherlode town of Amador City. Was it worth the drive? Did it live up to the hype? YES! 5 stars!
As I stepped into Moonrise, I noticed right away the interior's fun, modern funky, fun decor. Thoroughly modern. They have a counter with stool seating that faces the TV, in addition to tables inside and outside on the front walkway. The tables outside are bistro size. The cashier was engaging. We told her it was our first time here; she was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered and paid with her. The food was brought out to us. But I did not know that they had pinball machines. Apparently they are located in the back room. Missed out on that action. Next time. As a kid, I grew up in playing pinball. That's my jam!
We ordered a half Italian chopped salad, pepperoni and sausage pizza and two cans of soda. The salad was fantastic. Fresh, gorgeous ingredients. Bright flavors. Not boring at all. The salad was delicious. The pizza was delicious as well. It is 18 inches by 4 inches. Cut into triangle slices. The crust is sourdough focaccia that reminds me of Detroit style. The crust had a oh so slight crackly exterior with an airy, fluffy interior. Lactose intolerant me took a lactaid pill and face planted into that pizza. Mmm! Luved the pepperoni and sausage. Quality toppings. They also offer craft beers and local wines.

Amazing Pizza and great sides. Good wine and beer selection too, even great NA options! The pizza though again, so so good. Wish this place was in Sac, but we will make the trip now and again because of how good it was.

Came with a group for pizza on a Friday. Greeted by amicable staff, prompt and patient to take our big group order (thank you). Great selection of local beer on draft and cans, a great variety of pizza and sandwiches too. The bread was very soft and fluffy which made for a great taste with the meat and veggie options available. Would recommend any options as we tried several and they were all good. Ambiance was nice, pinball in the back and establishment was clean, fairly big inside to hold several people.

They have unique pizza names and toppings. I was missing the key ingredient for my pizza which is chicken. The pizza crust was spongy like cake. Needed olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
The board games and arcades to play while you’re waiting for pizza.
Ambiance- cute Lego display. And you pay at the cashier to order.
Service was good.
