Every Once in a While the Best Surprise is One You Never Saw Coming! The Bowl & Plate Eatery is Exactly That!!! Driving south on Magnolia Street in Anaheim Sunday, Feb. 25 around 6pm. Just before I reached Ball Road, I remembered there used to be a 'hole-in-the-wall' Italian restaurant tucked into the northeast corner of a little strip mall there. It's been a while so I wasn't sure what I'd find but I made the left turn into the parking lot to explore. No more Italian restaurant (sigh). But in its place I see a quaint looking sign proclaiming the new establishment's name: The Bowl & Plate Eatery. Some quick Internet searching gave sufficient details to convince me to enter...that and my growling stomach! A tasteful and minimalist small dining area offered seating for perhaps 15 guests. Upon my arrival this particular Sunday evening, I was one of three. The owner gestured for me to take a seat, brought over a menu and offered a smile so warm and bright I knew she loved what she was creating here. Seriously, her exuberance was evident in abundance. I'm now even more convinced I made the right choice for this evening's dinner. I won't list the whole menu but I will speak of my selections: - Chicken Vegetable Dumplings - Steak Salad - Choco Roti with Ice Cream Everything is infused with blended Asian flavors. The dumplings were perfectly seared on the bottom, offering a nice crispy-crunch with every bite. Their dipping sauce added just the right amount of 'Zip!' without being overpowering. The steak salad was heaping with fresh leafy greens of several varieties and the steak bites were perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. The Choco Roti with ice cream was a last minute addition and WOW! am I glad I did. Small wedges of delicately toasted flat bread, drizzled with sweet icings and a touch of cinnamon, served with a healthy scoop of vanilla ice cream, also drizzled with icing. A great combination of sweetness and savory to end a fantastic meal. Mind you, The Bowl & Plate Eatery is not staffed by a team of experts, cranking out cookie-cutter meals-o-plenty. No No! It was staffed by the owner of that amazing smile, who also happens to own the restaurant. She handled it all, from greeting and seating, to explaining, order taking, meal preparing and serving. She's even her own busboy! And all of it in a timely, orderly manner. No rushing nor resting. A model of efficiency and a skilled chef t'boot. No need to ask if I will return. I will have to add this to my monthly restaurant sojourn list. The owner said she's been there for 3 years now and I fault myself for not discovering The Bowl & Plate sooner. And please note, this is not the steam-table Asian food take-out style place. This is well-crafted dishes prepared with passion and heaped with love of craft. Yes, you'll pay a bit more for this but with every bite you'll know it is So, SO Worth It! I'm hopeful The Bowl & Plate is well-visited to keep it in business. This level of original and fresh is rare indeed. I'll keep doing my part! Now it's your turn! Get to The Bowl & Plate for lunch or dinner today!

Food is excellent in flavor, visuals, and smell (the 3 musts) with friendly service, reasonable prices. As if those were not enough, it's like you're eating a rainbow of colors here. For those who want or need to eat beyond 'beige', this is the place for you!

We just tried this place and it was so delicious! No one else was in there (7:50 pm Sunday night) but we were so glad we tried it out! The owner/chef was so nice & hospitable, and every dish we tried was so yummy! I had the beet salad (every bite was such an amazing wonder of flavors!), and my husband had the BBQ chicken -soooo tender! My son had the salmon & he exclaimed "it was sooooo good mom!" We had never tried purple rice but it was yummy too

After eating here, I can see why they’re rated so much higher than everything else around the area. It truly is exceptional. They were able to provide advice and make things gluten free. They even made a good kids dish with fried chicken and peanut sauce. The service was outstanding.I had the yellow curry and coco noodles. Both were really great. The medium spicy level is probably equivalent to “hot” at other restaurants.

I ordered lunch here online for pickup. They called me right after I placed my online order on their website. I had ordered their seasonal mango and sticky rice, but it was out of season so they refunded me, which was nice. I ordered their coco noodle soup with mild spice, dumplings and Thai green milk tea. Pick up was easy. I had to wait a bit for the Thai green milk tea and for the refund that they paid me in cash. The woman that served me was super friendly and asked me if it was my first time there, which it was. The place is small inside, only two tables, one large and one medium. It seemed like the place was under construction as most of it was cut off and dark. It was probably good that I got take out. My soup was really good, it was flavorful and not too spicy. I loved the generous amount of mushrooms and fresh ingredients. The dumplings were really good and went well with my soup. The chicken filling was moist inside and the wonton was soft and still warm. I did order extra dumpling sauce on accident. When you order online it says you have to pick a sauce and it costs an extra dollar, but it doesn't say that it already comes with sauce so that was a little annoying. I bought an extra for no reason. The green milk Thai tea was really good and had a unique floral taste to it and it wasn't too creamy. The crushed ice went well with it. My lunch was really good and I would order take out from here again.

Wow, if you want some of the best yellow curry you have to come here. Mook (I think she was the owner). She was so bubbly and kind and welcoming! I met a local when sitting down who couldn't stop raving about the curry and I see why now. If you're in the area give this place a go! I should've taken a photo of the curry but I ate it too fast!

My little sister took me here with her boyfriend for the first time tonight, and I had an amazing experience! The food was fabulous and the owner (I believe) was just the sweetest person ever. This restaurant is also very well decorated with plants and lights, if you're into that kind of stuff :)

1. The food on the dishes were arranged well, and the food and drinks were delicious! I love the flavor of the noodles, and the chicken was juicy! 2. The spot has cozy casual vibes! 3. There are few indoor tables in the main room! 4. The staff were friendly and attentive! 5. Parking lot had plenty of spaces, and it was not busy! Note: They gave us a coupon with a discount for our next visit! Photo: Ice cream, Roasted Pork Noodle (Dry), Choco Iced Latte, Minty Mango, BBQ Chicken

I came here and had the Larb Noodle Salad. I gotta say it's an amazing fusion dish using Vietnamese rice noodle and Thai ground chicken (I think) with lime sauce. It was very delicious and extremely fresh. You don't feel heavy after eating it. It has a delicious lime sauce which is so refreshing and pairs very well with the protein and rice noodle. I like to ask for it to be made a little mild so it has a kick. The portion is also very generous for the price. Personally, I could've made two meals out of it and taken half to go. The service was nothing short of amazing, we were very well taken care of. This place is a hidden gem and I wish more people knew about it.

We got take out from here. After I placed the order, the restaurant called for some clarification on spice level and an allergy we had noted which was very much appreciated. The gal who called was so friendly and helpful. When we picked up the food, they were just as kind. The food was all incredible. So much flavor and great portion sizes. Highly recommend the edamame!! We are from out of town but would definitely come back again if we're in the are! 10/10 recommend.

A hole in the wall with delicious Thai & Vietnamese dishes. The eggplant could be cooked a little more but the flavors were spot on. Loved the plateware & ambiance of the place. Service was friendly and quick. Highly recommend & will definitely return!
