Love your response to unhappy customers, would never even consider this place....

Absolutely the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. We were a group of 7 and not only did we all get food poisoning after eating here, but the food itself was incredibly salty and tasted old completely inedible.
To make things worse, the waiter insisted we order two large shareable platters instead of individual meals, claiming it would be “cheaper that way.” What a scam. We trusted his recommendation, only to be slapped with a $700 bill for just 2 shared plates, 1 shared appetizer, and 3 desserts. That’s outrageous.
We felt robbed literally and figuratively. This place should be ashamed of the food they serve and the way they trick customers into overpaying. Never, ever eating here again. Save your stomach, your wallet, and your time avoid this place at all costs .

P.S. The waitress knew we're from a different state , so he took advantage of it . 👎

First time visiting USA, tonight a friend of mine said we really need to come here. Regardless of the fact that I'm Romanian, I have to say that the food here brought me childhood memories. Beginning with the starter platter, the main dish and the delicious dessert, I would come back here again and again. Highly recommended for traditional Romanian food and drinks, warm friendly and natural customer service, and simply just everything else.

Wow wow wow. What can I say? My Romanian heart has found its therapy and healing. Ca la mama acasă! It tastes like home, culture, tradition, love, passion and all of what Romania embodies. I’m only sorry that I live in Texas. Otherwise, I’d come here to eat every single week. Best restaurant in the whole of California. Sănătate și mult noroc înainte!

What a great experience. I love Eastern European food ( I'm Hungarian). Saw this place driving by and had to give it a try. The host/owner was very helpful in going through the menus. I had the lamb stew and my wife had the three sausage dinner (Skinless Sausages/Mititei). Our dinner was topped with a Papanasi desert. Great. Th interior is warm and welcoming. I love the bare cloth tablecloths (with no glass cover.) Will be back to try the rest of the menu.

If you’re craving authentic Romanian cuisine, look no further than Dunarea in Anaheim! From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve.

The menu is a treasure trove of Romanian classics, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) were perfectly seasoned and melted in your mouth, while the mici (grilled sausages) were juicy and full of flavor. Don’t miss out on the mamaliga (polenta) or the ciorba de burta (tripe soup) – both were outstanding.

To top it off, their desserts are a must-try. The papanași (Romanian donuts) were the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal.

Whether you’re Romanian and feeling nostalgic or just curious to explore this incredible cuisine, Dunarea is a hidden gem you won’t regret visiting. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Best Romanian food. That includes: mici - Romanian juicy kebabs. Stuffed cabbage rolls 😋 like my mom used to make them. If you are familiar with this Eastern European cousin - you have to go. If you are not - you really have to go. You won't regret it. There is also AMAZING vegetarian appetizers like zacusca made out of bell peppers & vinette made out of eggplants. & the best mamaliga - soft, yummy polenta. Also don't forget the papanas for desert.
There is plenty of videos on YouTube about Romanian food, so you can see how the food looks like. Even Mark Winns has like 4 videos about his food travels in Romania.
& I can vouche that this food is as AUTHENTIC & DELICIOUS as it gets.

A few days ago, I visited this restaurant that serves Romanian food. While the food was good, it cannot be compared to authentic Romanian cuisine. The biggest problem with this place is that when you ask for the bill, it comes handwritten, which is unacceptable in a civilized country.

My family and I ordered platters, but the waiter did not leave me the menus to check the prices or to see that the 20% tip was mandatory. Additionally, if you're not satisfied with the service and with not realistic pricea, no one should force you to pay a $150 tip, especially when the restaurant itself is outdated, and some of the dishes arrived cold, despite being described as fresh. Furthermore there is no federal law or stat law that forces you to pay any tip.

The issue wasn’t the exaggerated prices, but rather that they served large portions, and the quantity didn’t match the price. Additionally, I ordered just one portion of soup for two people to taste. The waiter, very kindly, said he would bring one portion but in two small bowls. While the intention was good, in the end, we hat to pay two large portions. These things bothered us — high prices that didn’t reflect the amount of food we received.

In the end, the total bill was $720, with $150 being the tip. When we asked the waiter for a detailed bill with prices, he reacted very rudely and quickly wrote down the order on a piece of paper. I've never encountered anything like this in any country, and I didn’t expect to experience it in Los Angeles, where you expect a certain level of civility.

Please be cautious and don’t let yourself be deceived by this restaurant. We were left with a very bad impression and do not recommend this place at all.
