I’ve been here before. For the price, I would expect to see characters more visible. Sometimes, they were not visible. Disney music overhead. I think also, a celebrated birthday should include a character when singing Happy Birthday. Anticlimactic overall. It’s Storybook so Pinnnochio and Jepetto and maybe Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland.

The character breakfast was a wonderful experience for the whole family. The staff was amazing and the good was delicious, with a great variety.

I feel the Disney characters should do more than just walk around each table waving hello.

Service was great, but the characters were a huge miss for us. We saw them, but they didn’t want to interact with our kiddos, one of whom is neurodivergent. It was hugely disappointing, and really soured our experience. We’ve dined at Goofy’s Kitchen and had a much better experience there. The characters were huddled with their handlers and were not interested in creating magic for families. We felt the magic was gone for us.

Not my favorite disney dining option. Food was mid, nothing special. Very loud and crowded. It is a character dining experience so it was somewhat expected but was excessive. We had attended goofy's kitchen previously which is a different vibe and more spacious so we weren't expecting the overstimulation for our little.

We had dinner here and it was fantastic! The food was really good and the character interaction was great! We saw Donald, Daisy, Minnie, Goofy, and Clarabell!
The service was friendly and efficient, never had an empty glass and plates were cleared away very quickly!
We enjoyed it more than Goofy’s Kitchen!
It’s pretty pricey but most Disney buffets are.

First time at the character dinner here and the food was a HUGE disappointment! We have been to the character breakfast here many times over the years and always had a good experience. The characters and the server were great and of course the ambience is beautiful. For two adults with tax and tip it came close to $200, so you would expect the food to be good. Drinks were all “off”. Lemonade syrup was not tasting right so I tried the orange juice which was totally watered down. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting in the pot for at least 10 hours burning. The pizza and butternut ravioli was good. The salads were all a disappointment. The charcuterie section was sitting empty for most of the time we were there. Overall there was only a few Items that were good.
The worst part came a few minutes after we paid. My daughter started getting stomach pains and Let’s just say it’s a good thing we were staying at a Disney hotel because we barely made it back to our room before dinner decided to give us a “surprise” visit! We were up all night taking turns in the bathroom. Not sure which food item gave us the food poisoning but I can say without a doubt that the culprit came from the food we ate at storytellers cafe! I would not recommend eating at this restaurant.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Wonderful Dining Experience at Storytellers Café
Storytellers Café is a fantastic dining spot located at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere combined with delicious food and excellent service. Whether you’re visiting for breakfast, brunch, or dinner, this restaurant delivers a memorable experience that perfectly matches Disney’s high standards.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the cozy, lodge-inspired ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully designed with wooden interiors, soft lighting, and classic Disney artwork, creating a relaxed yet elegant environment. It feels family-friendly while still being comfortable for adults, making it suitable for all age groups. The spacious seating and calm atmosphere make dining here a pleasant break from the busy theme parks.
The food at Storytellers Café is truly impressive, especially the buffet options. The variety is excellent, offering something for everyone. From fresh salads and flavorful soups to perfectly cooked meats, pasta, and comforting side dishes, the quality and taste stand out. Breakfast and brunch options are equally delightful, featuring fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, pancakes, and Disney-themed treats that add a fun touch. Everything is well-prepared, fresh, and replenished regularly.
One of the highlights of Storytellers Café is the character dining experience, particularly during breakfast. Seeing beloved Disney characters interact with guests, pose for photos, and engage with children creates a magical and joyful atmosphere. The characters are friendly and attentive, making sure every table feels special. This is a huge bonus for families with kids and Disney fans alike.
The service deserves special praise. The cast members are courteous, efficient, and genuinely warm. They ensure tables are clean, drinks are refilled promptly, and guests feel comfortable throughout their meal. Despite the restaurant often being busy, the staff manages everything smoothly without making guests feel rushed.
Overall, Storytellers Café offers an excellent combination of great food, charming ambiance, and Disney magic. Whether you’re staying at the Grand Californian Hotel or just looking for a quality dining experience near Disneyland, this restaurant is well worth the visit. It’s a place where good food meets memorable moments, making it a dining experience you’ll want to repeat on your next Disney trip.

Great atmosphere, food was good for a breakfast at a resort hotel. Fantastic bread pudding. The only complaint is there is a chipmunk infestation.

We've dined here a fare amount through the years and service used to be great, but unfortunately the server the last 2 times was rude and this last time you could tell she didn't want to be there. Being a server for 20 years id never treat a table like that especially when youre getting a $100 tip for literally getting drinks. Other servers were talking to their tables. The food, hostesses, busses and characters were great but the wait staff needs to be looked over again.

We really enjoy coming here for special occasions with our toddler despite the very high cost as he's a fan of Mickey and co. We got his autograph book signed, he had excellent character interactions as well. They had overbooked for Daisy's pajama party though so we had to wait longer and the service was comparatively just ok (it's usually pretty good with banter from servers) and we had to do overflow parking which was bad with a toddler - usually you just get valet parking which is awesome. Speaking of, they should have complementarily parked our car across the street and brought it as well - it's one service they're supposed to provide and failed to do so. The food is excellent though and our toddler ate his fill and then some which was nice 🙂

This was our second time as a family at Storytellers and each time is amazing. It is worth the very high price tag. The food is top notch, the desserts were customized for the holiday with little pictures and characters.

Wow, Nothing like being charged 300 dollars for a canceled reservation, canceled 2 day's before because the extreme rain that morning and They charge you full price because it's not a 72 hour notice, normally you get charged 10 dollars if you don't cancel, Zero if you cancel 2 hours before, here we are in January and they consider it christmas time so if you cancel you pay full price, My cousin visiting from Oregon didn't notice the insane policy,, I'm not surprised by Disney's corporate greed, I've had breakfast there several times and it's extremely lack luster compared to when it opened, Thanks greedy Disneyland for making our trip horrible.
