I love the German food here. I have been here a few times and loved every visit. The mushroom gravy is AMAZING! it's not even gravy, more like a side of mushrooms with some cream. It's soo good :) I always get the Breaded Cutlet with mushroom gravy, veggies and potato pancakes, that is definitely my signature item here. They have great beers, great food and friendly service. They are moving to a new location in Brea, and soo I'm going to miss their Anaheim location. Thank you Bierstube for the yummy foods and drinks!

3.5 Stars.I was looking for a German restaurant so I could have so food that my Grandmother (Oma) used to make. I did a little research and decided on this place.First off this place is more than a restaurant, it is also a beer garden, a hall and the home of the Pheonix club.I ordered the chicken schnitzel with fried potatoes and red cabbage and the beef goulash. The beef goulash was very savory and beef fell apart . The goulash came with a roll and butter, I think it was my favorite thing about the meal. The chicken schnitzel was tasty, nice and crispy, it came with a bacon gravy that wasnt very good. The red cabbage was not very good. Potatoes were OK. I am glad that I went, but I will probably not be back. Also the waitress and host/barback were very knowledgeable about the food and were very friendly. I asked for lemon when ordering, I didn't get them when my food came, I wasn't going to ask but the waitress noticed and brought them out for me. I appreciated that.

With the closing of the Jagerhaus, there are now even fewer German restaurants in OC. We had been to the Bierstube in the past, and found it to be so-so. However we returned just recently, and happy to say the experience and food were much improved! Located in the Phoenix Club, you have to know to look for this place. It is tucked away behind some auto dealerships, on a side road. The Bierstube has a traditional German "pub" vibe, not too large inside, they have a few booths, a number of tables, and a bar running along the back wall. The night we went there were quite a few patrons who stopped in before the Ducks game, so they were pretty busy. Despite that, our server was on top of everything, and they fill the drink orders fast. They do have a full bar, so you can opt for whisky, vodka, etc. in addition to several good German beers and wine. I'm a whisky drinker, and I found their selection basic, but they at least had Makers. I do love German beer, just fills me up too much. But the best thing was the food was much better than our previous visit several years ago. I had the pork schnitzel with the fried potatoes and veggies. About $20 for the plate, it was a LOT of food. The pork cutlet covered about 2/3 of the plate, with a very generous portion of potatoes and veggies. Lightly breaded, not greasy, tender cut of meat. The potatoes were also very good, authentic, just like grandma used to make! Overall, this is the best German restaurant I know of in OC.

So happy to have found this place. Till I make the time to visit Germany I will keep coming here for my curry wurst and snitzel fix. Entree portions were massive and very filling.

There are too few German restaurants so we were happy to find one on our visit to Anaheim... Orange... Look I'm not sure where were were there are so many cities that overlap behind the Orange Curtain. They have a nice selection on the menu I had a sausage platter with spätzle and a really god pretzel my partner had a port cutlet that was fantastic. They have a good selection of German beer as well. It is a bit out of the way but worth finding.

Good traditional German food and beer. Not a brewery but decent selection. Food is very good especially wieners, Spätzle, potato salad, and schnitzel. Not busy for lunch but also not a quick meal.

Authentic German food, great place. Wish we'd lived closer to this restaurant.

Beautiful old-time pub, polished wood everywhere, German draft beers of every variety, happy hour 4-6 Mon-Sat, bay window views, FS1 Baseball channel on the 4 televisions, brilliant service…they gave us free bread and butter too!

Loved it! Could do without the Spaetzel, it didn't appeal to me (maybe could add a sauce to it?) but everything else was fabulous! Great cold cut plate and pretzel as appetizers. Loved the fruit plate I chose as a side dish. Friendly and attentive staff.
