I always come to this location . Only thing that was different this time our server took about 10 minutes to just bring out waters and drinks . I work at a restaurant so I know this part of the service should take no longer than 5 minutes . It was to the point the server was upset with our waitress because she forgot to ring in my boyfriend's fried rice and also a kids 6oz or 9oz chicken breast ... but since I work in restaurant industry I understand these things can happen . I had a birthday coupon as well I didn't know you had to redeem mon-thurs which I feel like Benihanas should have very big in not in fine print since this was the whole reason of our attendance . But the server let us know it's mon-thurs and to read the fine print which I completely over-stand but I clearly was a bit bummed and me working in a restaurant I would've accommodated the party even if it's as little as 5% customer service is everything... because we're still paying 150+ , I also didn't love that when I was telling my boyfriend about free ice cream with our meals she said ONLY WITH SPECIALITY meals . Which one again I understood this but this was a conversation just between me and my boyfriend we ONLY order speciality meals like Rocky's choice and splash n meadow because we order it everytime . I thought it was a little weird she interrupted our convo just to let us know it was speciality only . Me personally working at a restaurant I would've never said that because I would never assume a party's bill or what they've gotten. I love this location I've been here several times with no incident so maybe it was miscommunication seriously I'm not sure but I was definitely a little disappointed my birthday was January 4th coupon didn't expire until January 20th I was just a little let down Our chef was great though I loved his entire energy !!! Ray I believe was his name he was great and didn't give us any problems with adding a fried rice to our order even when his server forgot thank you ray!

Wonder birthday dinner for my 12 year old daughter. Food was amazing and the chef (Chandler) was hilarious. Our server (kristy) was fast and always attentive to when we needed refills or had questions. Very friendly and safe environment to relax. Will definitely go again.

At about 7:35pm she comes over and says the cook should be out “he is prepping our food”. The table across from us who was seated 5-10 minutes before us was well into their dining experience. The manger then comes over and explains that they are behind and sorry for the wait. So what you are telling me that the table that was seated 15 minutes after us has a cook already and the info that your waitress told us was a lie? Oh no it's because you guys have more entrees..???? Are you kidding me!! We proceed to wait, 8:02 the cook finally shows up and he is the slowest cook ever!!! The HIBACHI rice not good had no flavor; he forgot my chicken. When I asked him oh is that regular butter, no it's garlic and I'm hooking you guys up? Umm what does that mean? Booking me up with butter? The manager not once came back to the table to check up on us. When we were asked about our ice cream it took her 10-15 min to show up with that and we had to ask a different waitress what the deal was and she was like I'm not sure I'll go check but she was scooping the ice cream when I was back there. They brought the ice cream out finally and we were there to celebrate a birthday and she forgot about that too.. $358 bill to celebrate my daughter 13th bday and this was the outcome!! We felt rushed and the prices have gone up and the portions were smaller. Our chef was great! His name was Ray! He was the only good experience! It was my birthday and I had to ask for a picture and then they couldn't print out for us. Their printer was not working. I gave them my email address so they could send the picture but still haven't received it. Very disappointed. Santa Anita mall location. Manager did not even apologize.

The Chef was entertaining. The wait however was way too long. We got seated around 5:45 but our reservation was at 5:30. There were 9 people on our table which was a little snug. We asked if we can switch table to be more comfortable but they said the wait will be at least another 30 mins. So we just stayed. We waited for our chef to arrive about an hour later around 6:45! Kids were hungry. They brought out the soup and salad right away. The onion soup was so bland. We had to exchange it for miso soup.

Benihana is an excellent restaurant and the food is very good but prices are not commensurate with the portions. I also was disappointed because I made a reservation to treat a friend from India and was trying to get there by 3pm for the lunch menu. By the time we parked and walked into the restaurant it was 3:08 & Benihana would not honor my reservation or the lunch menu and lunch prices. We ended up paying full dinner prices and it dampened our visit. I will not go back to Benihana's due to this experience and the outrageous prices
Reservation was delayed due to not enough staff available in bar area. There was only one other table sat in the bar but service was subpar during the 90 minutes that my party of 2 were there.

The experience was cool, the wait was long. Usually for Teppanyaki it's about an hour or less, even with a full table... this was waaay over an hour. The chef was great! But the timing could have been better.

Edited to add: Turns out our card was charged a total of SIX times and we were only refunded for one charge. Now we are dealing with a huge hassle since our card company thought it was fraud. The manager assured my husband the card did not go through. We had no idea he ran it this many times. So unprofessional. Was discouraged that even with a reservation, we waited 40 minutes to be seated, and another 40 before receiving our appetizers. Then after dessert, it took over 20 minutes to pay because the card reader kept losing WiFi signal. The manager charged our card 3 times, then had to refund two of the charges. He apologized and gave us coupons for our next visit, but that requires us to rerun which I'm not sure we will after this. The food was good and our chef and server were fine, but wow. The reservation and payment systems feel more like an old Applebees and at these food prices, that's frustrating.

Made a reservation waited 30 mins regardless. The host that sat us was so diamond you couldn't hear anything she robotically said . The waitress ok did the minimum, the chef was caring and made sure everyone's order was right. You can tell he was new but he did his best. So I'm not sure if I'll do Benihana again. I went with family to celebrate my birthday . The service was spot on by our waitress she served us with joy she catered us like royalty . Our chef was amazing . He was very friendly and entertaining! We been to Benihana's often he was absolutely the best we had it made our night special! The vide was excellent I think his name was Iggy ! Next time we go we definitely will be requesting he be our chef again! Great job! You made my birthday memorable!
