When I heard this place was closing I was really sad as I loved this place and went often during the lockdown. But recently the service went to pot. The mentally challenged girl they have working there kept messing up our orders. Tonight was the worst issue yet and now I see why this place is closing. She killed the place after screwing up one too many orders is my guess. They should've fired her a long time ago. Tonight I called in an order, came to pick it up and the girl W

Love their authentic Japanese foods with fusion ... sad that they are closing in November 27, 2021

Some of the best Japanese take out I've ever had. They do simple home style Japanese food in take out boxes. The prices are good, portions reasonable, but the flavor is where they shine. I can tell whoever is cooking in the back is doing so with love and care. Keep up the amazing work Bento-ya!

Terrible terrible service. Between the ignoring of the phone, to actually picking up the phone and asking to hold and then forgetting about you for 15min until you hang up, I should have realized this place is on the way out. Went there in person to order. Waited over an hour for the food. We asked for updates repeatedly and got no response. Arrive and see they are going out of business, no surprise. Given an ETA of 30 minutes and then waited an hour for pickup. Sad because this place used to have somewhat decent service, but all good things come to an end, including this place.

I've driven by this place so many times and just happened to be craving chicken teriyaki. I stopped by and ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl. It was about $8 and came with miso soup. The portion for the price was really good. The only complaint that I have is the employees were not to friendly and didn't know their menu. That's why the three stars. Besides that I might go back another day.

I used to come here a lot and eat here a lot the food and ppl are really nice. But lately their food takes wayyy too long to be ready. Ordered 2 rice plates and waited around 45min. The cashier was rude as heck too. She came out with an order so I thought it was mine and so I asked if it’s order65 but she gave me an attitude and said “NO! I said 60!” Like bro calm down I was just asking, don’t gotta yell at me like that.

I really like this place. It takes a little time for your food but it is worth it. I like the tempura shrimp, bbq short ribs and California rolls my wife likes the chicken teriyaki, and the beef bowl

I have been coming here for years. The food is good especially shrimp tempura but service is getting worse and worse. The lady at the front today (9/11/2021) didn't seem she wanted to work. She took her time to pack orders while they were busy. The guy who took my order did not understand my order. I had to repeat my order 4 times. I don't even know if I want to come back.

I had been looking forward to it but I probably wouldn't make a detour again. The food was ok. Definitely fresh. Its made to order so order ahead if you don't want to wait long. The fried chicken was soggy when I got home a few minutes later, should be packaged differently like not tied up in a plastic bag. Yes, I should've opened it up in the car. The mac salad was heavy on the mustard and had a different taste so we didn't eat it all. Big serving of fluffy rice. The miso soup was delicious and the crunchy roll was pretty good.

Wow, I used to love this place. Service was always good in the past but there must've been a change of ownership. The female handling orders is a total biznatch. My usual go-to was their spicy wings and what I got was "Uhhh, we're like a Japanese place, we don't serve wings" just oozing with attitude. I know I've f'n ordered wings here before...there's damn pictures of them on their Yelp page. All you have to say is there's been a menu change and they aren't available instead of being rude. New ownership: dump the rude employee who is killing your business/reputation. As a customer for 5+ years I know I'll won't be back

3.5 stars. A staple Japanese takeout restaurant on the outskirts of Arcadia, Bento-ya has built themselves a reputation for quality Asian cuisine in these few years. I've returned to this location to sample a variety of their offerings ranging from the menchi-katsu (fried meatball) and curry katsu (fried cutlet curry) combos, to the sushi rolls and mackerel plates as well. Food quality has been good, although the menchi katsu is very inconsistent. Sometimes I order it and it'll be juicy, other times dry and lacking flavor. My only complaints are inconsistency, exorbitant wait times (sometimes taking 30 minutes to an hour at peak times), and pricing is on the higher side for what you get. Other than that, I always recommend my friends to try it out when I'm in the area.

Food is pretty good. Portion size decent. Pay attention to menu before ordering. There are some deals with add-ons. Prices are on the higher side but food is fresh & cooked to order, so it's worth it. One gentleman employee could be a bit nicer. Seemed a little upset on my visit last week. Regular younger male & female employees are always pleasent. Hopefully he doesn't work front of the house very often. His rudeness cost a star.

The food was decent. We had the teriyaki beef bowl, curry chicken , California roll, and tuna roll. The sauces are a bit thick but the California and tuna rolls were good.

This was not our first visit. First time food was great, presentation and taste were great and employees were nice. Second visit good food missing sauce, and presentation seemed rushed. Employee seemed a bit lost, maybe new. Went a couple more times same, good food with rushed presentation but nice employees. Most recent visit the gentleman was extremely Rude. At beginning when placing my order he was Rude. As I walked up to order, he snapped "yeah". When picking up my order he was Rude. He snapped because I asked if a fork was in bag. Look, I know working with the public can be difficult but if the guy can't be at least polite, then he should stay in the back and cook. They were probably short staffed because previous employees quit! I can't believe this place is part of the Bishamon Group. Such a disappointment.

Five star for the girls at front desk. Friendly and cute. The food need to be more delicacy. Plz don’t over cook my short ribs again. Thanks
