SIt down, order the house noodle, eat.
not much to pick from the menu
the house noodle is all you'd need.
there is a wet one and a dry one for like $20. those we ordered. excellent choices. the dumpling actually not as good as the noodle. skip those dumplings if budget constraint.
the soup is great. didn't need a straw but did suck up all of it. the fried one i did leave the extra oil on the plate and nothing else. the food was hot, the way it should be. the decor does not exist. nothing to talk about. just plain tables, no arm rest chairs in a nearly empty shop. you'll find a vanilla fridge and a register on the counter, that's all. everything comes from behind the doorway of mystery. maybe mr. ping from kung fu panda is back there? good stuff are pricey. the cheap stuff i didn't order. not sure what are they...

Expect nothing from here other than a friendly smile and tasty food. Special Beef Noodle was delicious, the beef was perfectly braised and the broth was very well made. The dumplings and green onion pancake pair well with the soup.

Very good and authentic food. Small restaurant, and the owner doesn't believe in A/C.

I love the place on Baldwin, but today I made the mistake of going to the Lao Xi Noodle House on Live Oak. This one was TERRIBLE. AVOID, AVOID! They charged me twice and made it MY problem.

This is what happened: During a work break, my boss ordered for me and one other person via GrubHub -- all we had to do was pick it up in 10-15 mins. It was always simple at the Lao Xi Noodle on Baldwin (my favorite). But what I thought would go smoothly and would have us eating before the break was over did NOT end up that way. When I arrived, I waited for someone to come to the front desk (never an issue at the one on Baldwin). When I finally got the attention of a grandmother-like lady and pointed to the to-go order waiting on the table that I knew was mine, she printed a receipt and showed it to me. I said it should be already paid for. She again showed me the receipt and told me the price. I said it was paid for through GrubHub. She argued with me and kept showing me the receipt, so I thought maybe somehow my boss made a mistake and selected that we'd pay at the counter (I'm not too familiar w/ GrubHub). I paid with my credit card, took the food, stepped out to the car, and called my boss to double check that we weren't just charged twice. He said he had already paid and sent me the receipt from GrubHub.

So I went back in and showed her the first receipt and said we'd just paid twice. She didn't understand. I eventually used Google Translate to say cancel my second transaction on my credit card because THE ORDER WAS ALREADY PAID FOR AND HERE IS THE RECEIPT. She called someone on the phone. They seemed to confirm what I was saying, from what I gathered as she found a receipt with my boss's remote payment lying on the side of the table and began yelling at the person on the other end. She then got off the phone, said nothing to me, and proceeded to serve other people while I waited. I said, "Excuse me? M'am?" at least 5x, with her just avoiding me. I was just getting upset when she received a second phone call, again with more yelling. She appeared to be guided through how to use the POS to cancel a transaction. She couldn't figure it out, kept getting frustrated, never apologized, and IT JUST KEPT GOING. Maybe her whole strategy was having me wait an hour until I just got frustrated and just left.

At this point, I'd spent time waiting to get attention, arguing with her over it being already paid for, eventually just succumbed and paid, then called my boss to verify that he did pay and waited to get the receipt from him -- all this for about 15 mins. And then the struggle of learning how to use the POS began and the angry phone calls and the ignoring me while I stood there awkwardly, with my food in the car for about 20 mins. Now, I was not going to have time to eat my lunch and make it back to work on time, so I showed her this message, using Google Translate: "I am on a break for work. I have to go. I don't have time. Can you just refund me?" which finally sped her up. She started yelling into the phone louder and faster, and after another 5 mins or so just dug through their cash drawer (where nothing was organized by bill) and grabbed three bills and gave me my refund in cash (great! we probably should've just done that in the first place!). Already with no time to eat and running late to work, I left.

Just outside, I looked at the three bills and realized one was missing. She short-changed me by $10. I was NOT going to go in there again and start the whole process again over $10, but my boss gave her a nice time, I was so patient with her, and my colleague, who'd been waiting in the hot car this WHOLE time, wasn't going to see me lose the battle after all of that. He went in, showed the second receipt, and showed how much he was given. She realized her mistake and added another bill. It took like 40+ mins for me to leave with my prepaid to-go meal. At the very least, te
