“This hide gem is a perfect taqueria. They have indoor sitting. They are one of the better places to get Mexican style food in arcata. Their bagles are so good and the berry scones.... yes please. no matter how busy the line had gotten the whole staff showed grace and diligence in their work and the own should be proud to have hired such a great group. hope to make my way soon in october“

“I want to start off by saying as a regular last night was the BEST yogurt experience I have ever had. I paid in mainly coins at the brink of closure for the night and I felt very accommodated and supported throughout my journey. I felt loved as a customer and appreciated as a human being. Dani and Jenny really put into perspective how all customers should be treated. I will eternally be indebted to Jenny and Dani. Due to the past coin shortage I truly felt it was my personal responsibility to give back to my community and recirculate these blessed coins into today’s economy. Dani and Jenny helped me achieve this goal of mine. I think both Jenny and Dani should receive employee of the month for their amazing customer service and beautiful smiles.

“Do you need gluten free bread??? Go here, it's cheaper and has so many more styles. My family and I usually send a text out when we are going so we can grab bread for the bigger family. It's so inexpensive and the staff is incredibly kind and wonderful. It's such a joy talking to them when I come to buy bread!“

“Bayside is such a hidden gem! Their lattes are fantastic and their food is so delicious! It’s made with local and organic products whenever possible and the best part is that it leaves you feeling satisfied, full and feeling great. They’re my favorite breakfast spot in all of Humboldt but they make delicious lunches too. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you totally should!“

“What a night! On vacation in Eureka, we asked a local at the dog park for a dining recommendation. Our server was Jake, and he performed quite well. Old Town Eureka was prepped for the Christmas walk, parking was free, and it was unseasonably warm.

Wood-fired hen with fingerling potatoes.
Grilled steelhead with lobster risotto.

“I really enjoy most about this location. The things offered here are above and beyond a local coffee shop which is nice. But the thing that's a bit off-putting is the fact that the service is not exactly friendly. My daughter really needed a glass of water and the pitcher was empty. When I asked for it to be filled, I got a very annoyed and sarcastic response from the lady. She said it's coming someone will do it. 10 minutes later it still wasn't done so I asked again, I got the same response, another 10 minutes later still not done so I stood at the counter and asked for a cup of water for a 4 year old. Yet again I was told with a meaner ton it's coming. It honestly feels like even small business don't seem to care about decent customer service anymore even though we customers are paying quite a lot of money supporting these places.“

“I visited Ramone’s in Old Town Eureka today with my girlfriend. We had good service overall, but I wanted to share some feedback that might help improve consistency.

I ordered a large coffee with heavy cream and vanilla flavoring, along with a cortado. The barista preparing the drinks didn’t seem familiar with what a cortado was, and although the person at the register told her verbally, she was then left on her own to figure it out. The drinks came out lukewarm, my coffee was overpowering with vanilla, and the cortado was extremely watery with no real texture or balance.

I finished them and politely asked for another cortado—this time hoping someone more experienced could prepare it. The second cortado was excellent, and the barista mentioned it was her favorite drink, which showed immediately in the quality. The difference between the first and second drink really highlighted the inconsistency.

My girlfriend’s matcha latte was also subpar compared to other locations.

This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed inconsistency at the Old Town location. A couple of times I’ve ended up with actual coffee grounds in my drip coffee, especially toward the end of the cup. I’m not sure how that’s getting through, but it’s only happened at this location, not at the Harrison Ramone’s, which is much more consistent.

I want to emphasize that the staff was friendly and the service was good. My feedback is simply about quality control and training. If new employees are being trained, it would help if experienced staff stayed involved to ensure drinks come out consistently, especially when customers are ordering more specialty items like cortados or Gibraltars.

I really enjoy Ramone’s and hope this feedback helps bring the Old Town location up to the same standard as the others.“

“One of the few (only?) places in McKinleyville that offers a large assortment of baked goods and pastries alongside excellent coffee. There are usually a few savory sandwiches offered as well.

We were particularly impressed by the fact that the iced coffee includes coffee ice cubes, yay!

Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Because of the open plan layout within a small space, the location is fine for a quick bite and chat, but not particularly atmospheric for a longer hangout.“

I have never experienced a more positive work environment nor felt as welcome as I have here since day one. There's good reason this Cafe has been so successful for so long. The tri-tip sandwich is my favorite, but I find I enjoy their vegan dishes almost as much. Try the chocolate chip cookies made fresh from scratch!“
