My wife really enjoys pizza from Smug's and says it is the best. I am usually not a big pizza fan so I feel it's pretty much the same as any other pizza. It's a takeout place so don't plan on eating in. The service is very quick and friendly though. We usually get the herbivore pizza.
I don't know what the source of popularity is for this place. The staff was super nice but it's literally a hole in the wall where you can only walk in and leave, so take this into account you're not even paying for seating let alone atmosphere with the price of the slice. A single slice is smaller than any other pizza place that offers slices in town. Most places charging by the slice are offering huge New York style pieces. Smugs is smaller and while it would be great for a frozen pizza made fresh in the oven at home it's hardly the quality of restaurant by-the-slice pizza in Arcata. I'm only left to assume people go to Smugs out of childhood habit or ignorance.

Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten free they are not bad but if your a vegetarian your in the best luck. Vegan pizza is disgusting everywhere you go but here it's tolerable

some of the most amazingly delicious pizza ever.??????they have slices available already which is nice.the staff are friendly. there is nowhere to sit as a customer. you just walk in & already there is the counter to order.
