Cheap owner, who won't pay his employees (other than waitresses) more money, therefore, he takes money (tips) from the waitresses and distributes them equally in his restaurant. Probably the most successfull sushi restaurant in Humboldt and still won't take care of his people. I will NEVER go here and support this selfish ownership.

Jaime doesn’t teach dishwashers how to use the rice cooker. He uses people who have cars and doesn’t teach them how to use the rice cooker. Make sure you change jacobs diaper in the car because he doesn’t drive

Good sushi. Good local beer on tap. Service not awesome delivere food and then disappeared. They add the tip automagically to your bill and maybe service suffers accordingly.

Service wasn’t great and we were forced to tip? Never had that happen before in my life ?

I drove down here from Vancouver BC just for lunch. This is my third time eating here and the only reason I visit Arcata!

Best sushi in the county. Food is always good, but would it be too hard to clean the windows just once?

Too saucy. Tomo is better in my opinion.

Very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Awesome music on Tuesday night with James Zeller music. Good sushi. The dragon roll was my favorite. It was quite tasty and beautifully presented. I'd go back (and will) just for that and the music. The California roll was meh - there was nothing wrong with. It just didn't fill me with delight. I wouldn't order it again though. Just too ordinary for my taste. The miso soup was warm and comfortable, a great way to start. The edamame were decent. A bit salty and yet not super flavorful. That said, I'd still get them - cause I love edamame. I love that they had Tamari (it's gluten free). Thats a big plus for me. I also love that they gave me as much wasabi as I wanted. I love wasabi. Theirs is decent wasabi too. All in all, it was a bit pricey - but everything is these days right? It was a little over $60 for 3 rolls, some pot stickers, two soups, one edamame and two mochi's and tip (it's included if you use a credit card). No drinks. Maybe that's not so much? What do you think? I think I'm stuck in the 90's when I would get great half price sushi (if you went at just the right time) in Berkeley.. Not a great reference! I'll go again for the dragon roll, the music.

Great veggie sushi and tempura! And they have wonderful local musicians serenading some nights, I love to go when James Zeller and the Ponies of Harmony are playing! I also really appreciate that they have shifted to an equitable fixed rate gratuity system instead of tipping, I hope it becomes an industry standard because it’s more fair for everyone and makes everything easier all around.

Jaime has a great sense of what his patrons palates would like to experience. After ordering sashimi (the best I’ve ever had, presentation, taste, and portion size) he offered to create a roll for me. It is pictured below, and it was perfectly matched to my preferences. Thank you Jaime! And Jesse! The people that work here make take the experience from great to exceptional.

The food was beyond our expectations. Fresh and tasty sushi and thick and well-cooked organic chicken curry. Staff was very nice too.

Food is good/fine but with their new mandatory tipping even on take out orders, this place is definitely a no go. How about pay your employees better instead of making the consumer pay for your employees?
