This was our second visit--the first roughly a year before. If I lived nearby I would eat there as much as I could. The food is terrific and the price is more than fair for the repast. Every course from appetizer to desert was excellent. If you find yourself in La Veta you shouldn't skip it.
All of Aly’s food was delicious, wonderful atmosphere, & staff went above & beyond to make sure we were happy. Another pleasant surprise was the reasonable prices. We will recommend Aly’s to everyone we know that are coming to Cuchara!
The food is amazing, everything is fresh and made when you ordered, this is authentic Salvadoran food, the pupusas is a must have and the yuca frita is amazing, and the owner works really hard to make the experience in the restaurant a family experience. However there are some costumer who are very demanding and want everything on the spot, you need to understand the goodness take same to complete the sircle. If you went through the food on the spot otdeysge
Best pupusas in town! Cash only
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last night. Alys and our server were very welcoming and friendly. My spinach dumplings over pesto and my husband’s pesto chicken were delicious. The desserts - crème brûlée and bourbon chocolate pudding - were amazing. We look forward to coming back!
Every time we travel from S. Texas to Colorado we make it a point to overnight in La Veta just to enjoy a meal at Aly’s. Alys is a wonderful hostess and chef. She struggles to find enough help but the quality of the experience is top notch. Allow plenty of time. We highly recommend Aly’s
We are never disappointed at Alys. She is a delight, service is great and the food is wonderful. La veta is very lucky to have Alys restaurant!
We have been coming here for many years . It’s our whole family favorite Central American Restaurant . The owner is the cook as well and her cooking is amazing . We considered her family. Really sweet and down to earth. The best place ever don’t eat the food from the streets when you can get wonderful food and service in this restaurant. Delicioso la mejor de la mejor . ??

Two for Service and four for food. I am a semi-regular customer eating at Alys' several times per year. The food is up-scale with menu items that you will not find in chain restaurants. Aly is very creative with the menu. The last few times I dined there my experience was less than satisfactory. The meat was a little tough, but the glazing was amazing. The food overall including the sides and desert was good but the service was unsatisfactory. We had reservations and requested a certain dish in advance but when we arrived we were told the dish was not available. We were asked to choose a different item. It was extremely hot in the restaurant. We were given water when we arrived and asked for more throughout the meal, but never received the water even after asking several times. Fortunately, we had some water in our car we had after we left. They were busy, but very slow at responding so we ended up spending much more time in the restaurant than we should have - 2 hours. When we asked for the check, the servers checked out other tables that arrived after us. I gave a 15% tip, which is lower than what I usual give because of the service but is still generous considering the service. The servers have a tendency to hover over you while you choose your tip which makes you feel a bit uncomfortable. We had a bill of about $200 because we had a nice bottle of wine, so 15% was still a nice tip. I didn't get a thank you when I paid, which seems a little rude and entitled. I am only writing this review because the past few times I have been in there I've had a similar experience with the service. If you spend $200 plus tip on a meal, I expect better. I'm sure if/when I will go back.

So glad I trusted my instincts and tried Aly's last weekend. It did not feel like having a great meal at a restaurant, it felt like I was invited to Aly's home for a wonderful dinner and dining experience. We delighted in striking a great conversation with her while we enjoyed her sublime cuisine (the ribs and the Thai snapper entrees) and a fantastic bottle of Darioush wine from Napa. We are already making plans to return to dine again soon. If you're looking for a culinary gem within a stone's throw of the beautiful Spanish Peaks....then look no further than Aly's.....thank me later!
The lady is so rude we come in here to buy and she is rude we ask her a question and responds with an attitude if I could give a negative star I

I’ve been to Alys’s a number of times. Her menu is excellent and the food is white-tablecloth exquisite. Definitely a first-class experience.
Spent 3 days in La Veta and ate dinner here all 3 nights. Had better food here than in many big cities we have visited. A nice selection of entrees with a vegetarian choice. Salads and vegetables tasted freshly picked and the home made desserts were superb. Alys and her staff welcoming and gracious. Would highly recommend.
