Great food and charming

I did a google search and found this place and chose it due to it had decent stars and food looked and sounded good. However, they gave me an iced tea no ice it was soo warm. The older gentleman and young man were friendly that was the only good thing about our experience. Took an hour and 20 minutes for our food to come out for 2 peoplez
First, they had no ice.
Second, they were out of soda and greens and didn’t let me know until after I waited an hour for my country fried steak that they didn’t have any made and it was being made fresh(why did it take that long to find that out)
Third, no soap in the restroom, dispenser seemed to be broken
Forth, staff were petting dogs outside, are they washing their hands before being out the next dish????
Fifth, chicken fried steak was so tough I didn’t even eat it and the burger had no seasoning on the meat very bland.
So disappointing and very expensive for what it was.

Heart & Soul is my favorite restaurant! The food is fantastic and the service is even better. I have ordered many different breakfast items and have not been disappointed, but the eggs Benedict with cajun hollandaise sauce really take the cake for me. You need to try them to know how perfect they are. The flavors of everything they make are thoughtful and take your palate that extra mile. Conner, the owner, couldn't be sweeter, always catering to dietary restrictions and offering recommendations for daily activities. Try out Heart & Soul--you'll be glad you did!

This is a great place for breakfast! Even at 12:00 they had no problem getting our breakfast for us. They also have a huge selection of hot sauces. Friendly and gracious staff. Plan to stop there again.

If you like fast, friendly service and great food, this is not the place to go. Really wanted to like it, but we just had a super disappointing experience. When we arrived, the server was relatively friendly and greeted us, and told us there was an open table but they just got busy, so we could sit down but food would take a bit longer. We figured that meant 30-45 minutes at most, no worries, not in a huge rush.

It ended up taking over an hour for our food to come out, and we were so excited for it, but it honestly just wasn't good. I got the fried green tomato benedict with bacon, and the hollandaise was unlike anything I've ever had, not in a good way. It was salty, thin, and full of herbs. Almost like ranch dressing, not what you'd expect when you order a Benedict. I could go on but long story short, the food just wasn't good.

I would have said something, but the server's demeanor had changed and honestly I just wanted to get out of there. I ate what I could which was basically a few bites, and they took the plates and brought the bill over fairly promptly. Wasn't asked if I wanted a box. I put my card down right away, and while we were waiting for her to close us out, my boyfriend went out to take our dog to use the bathroom as she'd been sitting in the car for an hour and a half at this point. I waited with the bill/card in a visible place and watched our server bus tables and walk slowly back and forth past me about a dozen times, so finally I just asked if she could go ahead and close us out, and she just said "I'll be over there in a minute". She was standing right next to me when she said it, and she proceeded to walk 5 feet away from me and just stand there? I felt like she was being deliberately rude and I have absolutely no idea why. We hadn't complained or been rude whatsoever. There was no one waiting for a table and she wasn't actively doing anything. She went and set a table she had bussed and wandered around a bit more before coming over to run my card with a portable card reader on her phone.

It just felt so deliberately rude, it blew my mind and made me so uncomfortable. I've been in the restaurant industry 10 years and I know we all have bad days, but that was straight up awful. I wouldn't have minded the wait, but the food wasn't worth it at all, and the service certainly didn't make up for those things either.

We read great reviews about Heart and Soul & how their breakfasts & lunch are extremely delicious & popular. My wife had their large hamburger with tater tots while I had fried chicken and collards & fries. Both foods were very delicious, fresh, hot and well garnished. The person behind us often comes daily. We’re all tourists vacationing in Arnold & we so happy about Heart and Soul. The owner Conner is absolutely talented, extremely friendly and provides outstanding service. The place is charming and home style quaint. There’s a selection of over 50 hot sauces to choose from. Heart and Soul is “the place to go”for tasty, nicely presented food. There’s a Large variety menu and daily specials. There’s a large parking lot, kids friendly & very attentive service. Owner Conner and Heart & Soul are an added treasure to Arnold & Calaveras county. Highly, highly recommended.

Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space to walk the youngster’s& crayons.

What nice people own and work for this breakfast place. Excellent food and staff make it very enjoyable by being so solicitous and polite. Love this mamma Pappa place. Went in a group of ten with my four naughty and noisy grandkids. They were still polite and treated us with respect. I highly recommend this place

We wanted a good breakfast spot before heading to the big trees, My son search for some spots around, and this one caught his attention so we decided to come here for the first time with all our family ,and I have to say no regrets , food was delicious ? coffee was strong just how we like it . The workers were very nice , welcoming friendly , and the service was quick. Very nice place to come for sure for great food and excellent customer service.
