Food was ok. Service was not very good. It took us a long time to get the server's attention. They are walking around but seem to be avoiding eye contact.

SEPTEMBER. Drove 6-7 hours from home, just to try out the restaurant, husband and I were very hungry, we got into the restaurant 8:25pm. A couple of Employees from the kitchen saw us and made eye contact but did not say a word to us. Waited 5-7 mins for someone to acknowledge us, one server was bussing a table, saw us and finally came up to us, we kindly told the server that we drove long hours from Stockton and this was the first restaurant we wanted to try in LA excitingly! The server mumbled under his breath, not sure what he said, but he went in the back or kitchen, he asked them if we can dine in, they said NO. We were so hungry, we even asked can we at least order to go? The answer was still NO, they said the cut off time was 8:30 for dine in, but yet we got there before 8:30pm it’s just nobody acknowledged us until after 8:30. As former restaurant supervisor and foodie critic, I would never reject a customer whether they came in 10 mins before or after the cut off time of dine in, specially when my restaurant has an outstanding reputation, but as a kapwa Filipino we always make sure our people or other race eat or at least have something to go even if it’s left overs. Little disappointing that were rejected this way. 1 star for that employee for trying. But we did find a Filipino Express restaurant, we called ahead we if can order to go, she said she was closing in 2 mins but she will wait for us, and we were 10mins away. She even called us back to make sure we were okay and that she will have hot food waiting for us. We got to the restaurant met an elderly woman she was so sweet! We paid for our take out, when we were heading out the door, she stopped us and told us to have a seat and just eat so we can enjoy our food, she also gave us free chicken tinola soup. Food was fresh and delicious. We told her that we got rejected by a well reputable Filipino restaurant. She said “we will always be welcomed here”. God bless her soul may her restaurant flourish.

This a respectable Filipino restaurant that offers a vast array of authentic Filipino dishes, desserts, and libations. They have covered bands that play on Friday and Saturday evenings. Service is a bit slow but everyone is friendly and accommodating. Best dishes that are very popular here are Adobo, Crispy Pata, Kare-Kare, Sisig, Pinakbet, lumpia, Pansit & rellenong talong (eggplant) to name a few.

The Baseline

The Baseline: For Filipino fine dining, the food the flavors need to be authentic with the flavors of the Philippines , the portions have to be properly sized, the service must be great, and the restaurant must be comfortable and stylish.

Food: I have had several dishes in the past at Gerry’s Grill and as a lover of pork this is a great place to fulfill that love. We did not have the Crispy Pata that I like from Gerry’s but I highly suggest. For starters the pork Sinigang had a great tamarin flavor with large chunks of pork, okra, daikon radish, chilis, and string beans to make a delicious soup. I did get my standard Sizzling Sisig which is a staple when I come to Gerry’s that is even tastier after you mix the egg into the sizzling pan it fries up into the pork mixture. The pork BBQ (which is really grilled pork… I am sorry but you can’t call it BBQ without sticking it into a smoker for some hours) was tasty and charred to give that flame grilled flavor. The Inihaw na Liempo (Pork belly) was grilled to its bacon adjacent perfection. The Pinakbet (Filipino vegetables mixed with shrimp paste) was really enjoyed by my family but not me because of the shrimp paste. Also make sure to order your garlic rice to complement all your savory dishes.

Service: The wait staff is busy and their service areas are large. They will need to be flagged down for other items, your check, and water refills.

Ambiance: Gerry’s is loud with a band on a Friday night so get your club ear resistance ready. The restaurant is a large dining area that can serve a lot of people. Big as in if you yell out “Tita” during a quiet moment you will get a hundred heads turning your way… that kind of big. The bathrooms are also high volume but seem to be serviced okay.

Gerry’s Grill (11710 South St #107, Artesia, CA 90701) is one of the best spots for authentic Filipino cuisine! They have an excellent selection of dishes — from Pork and Bangus Sisig, Sinigang, and Nilaga, to Lechon Kawali and Crispy Pata, all cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor.

The place has a cozy and lively atmosphere, with a stage for live performances that adds to the fun dining experience. It can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so if you just want to relax and enjoy the food, it’s best to come a bit earlier. Overall, Gerry’s Grill offers great food, great vibes, and a true taste of home!

Food and service were good. While I was waiting for my food, they brought out pork rines. They were really good. I did not expect that. The music in the restaurant was good as well.

Place and food is good but understandably pricey because of the band but there is a long line for you to get in.

One thing I would primarily suggest is to train your staff, this place has a bad customer service. The food was okay yet expensive. Paid 200 dollars for 3 dishes. Save your money and just buy somewhere else worthwhile. Also, the waitlist is absurd with the place so empty. Servers are just chatting and sitting, not even asking if for pick-up or dine in. WILL NOT COME BACK AGAIN. Please read your reviews so that you will be guided on how to improve your place.
