Tried Nanking Restaurant after seeing so many strong reviews, but my experience ended up being fairly average.
We ordered chicken lollipops, chili chicken, gobhi Manchurian, veg pakora, and hot & sour soup. The food was okay, but the execution felt inconsistent across dishes. A common issue was the way the vegetables were cut — very large, chunky pieces in multiple items. For stir-fried Indo-Chinese dishes, this really matters. When vegetables aren’t properly julienned or evenly sized, they don’t cook evenly or absorb flavors well, and the overall taste suffers.
The chicken lollipops and pakoras were decent, but dishes like chili chicken and gobhi Manchurian felt off mainly due to the oversized cuts. Unfortunately, the meal also didn’t sit well with my stomach afterward, which further took away from the experience.
Given how highly rated this place is, I was surprised — maybe we caught them on an off day. It was also a day of very heavy rain and flood warnings across LA, so that may have played a role in how things were running.
Not terrible, but not memorable either. I might give it another try sometime, but this visit didn’t quite live up to the hype.

I came in with a party of 6 last minute and we were able to get seated quickly. The servers helped us curate an experience. We ended up getting Chili Garlic Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Saag Panner, and lots of garlic Naan. Everything was made quickly and fresh and I had no complaints the entire time. We were also helped by the server and asked about the each dish. Amazing place. Definitely coming back!

Restaurantji Recommends
They had a well aid buffet.
Although we tried ala carte but the buffet also seemed really appealing.
Quick service and they also had a live band.
Overall a good vibe.

They market themselves as “desi Chinese”, but the food is nowhere near authentic. Dishes like Chicken 65 and Chicken Lollipop seem added just to attract South Indian customers, but the taste and quality are completely off. Honestly, I was shocked to see so many positive reviews – looks like there’s more investment in marketing than in the kitchen.
Overall, disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place.
The Indo-Chinese food we ordered was really delicious, so was the fried veg momo & the cutting chai was awesome. The staff was very attentive despite being very busy & people waiting to be seated. Highly recommend this place!!
