Authentic and delicious Bengali food is hard to find in the Los Angeles metro area, Taj Mahal Restaurant and Grocery is by far an establishment that serves some of the best Bengali cuisine on the west coast. The biryani is delicious and cooked to perfection, while the meat curry dishes are succulent and cooked with care. Naan, roti and parata are given in generous potions and are warm and tasty. The curry dishes are a great accompaniment with the naan. The restaurant is spacious and has a family atmosphere with very friendly staff who put care into their service. The restaurant provides catering services as well. A well stocked grocery store is also attached and carries a wide variety of items at good prices. You can shop and then enjoy a delicious meal right after. Taj Mahal Restaurant and Grocery is well worth a visit if you are in the area or you are craving Bengali or South Asian cuisine.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Food & Hospitality!

Last night, we had dinner with my family at Tajmahol Restaurant in Artesia, LA, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff and owner were extremely friendly, kind, and helpful.

When we arrived, most of the food was already sold out, but the owner generously offered to prepare everything fresh for us, which we truly appreciated. We ordered Chicken Saslic Kebab, Shish Kebab, Mughlai Paratha, and Plain Paratha, and everything was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed every bite.

The restaurant was very clean, and the hospitality was excellent. The owners are genuinely nice people who care about their customers. We even did some grocery shopping there, which was very convenient.

Highly recommended! 5-star food and service. We will definitely come back again.

I guess I didn't learn my lesson when I bought food from them the first time. I got good reviews from my younger brother and friends and got 2 Beef Tehari and a Chicken Biriani on january 1st this year. I got one for myself and the other 2 for my son and his wife. I tried the Beef Biriani and it smelled bad and I didn't finish. I asked my son the next day he told me that they seemed old. I tried lunch couple of times in the last 3 months and it was good. I tried Beef Khichuri which was good and once got Beef Tehari to go which was also good. I went there last Sunday and got Beef Tehari to go for dinner. I opened the box, heat it up and I realized that the meat looked kinda dark. As soon as I took a bite, I had toss the whole thing. If you serve old food over and over again, you won't have customers any more. I hope they take a different approach and serve fresh food and get customers back.

Of the three Bangladeshi restaurant/groceries in the area (that I'm aware of), Taj Mahal is my new favorite.

Taj Mahal has both menu & ready-made food in chafing trays. Offering the usual Bangladeshi items of rohu (carp), several curries, dal & vegetables, a 3 item combo was just what I was looking for.

3 item combo/$13-
The well-spiced goat curry had spoon tender cuts of goat, and the rohu was fried well, without being dry. Taj Mahal's 3 item combo was an ample amount of food, enough to tide me over for the rest of the day. I availed myself of about 4 cups of self serve masala chai, which is included with the meal.

Service was good. The cashier was friendly, and informed me to go ahead and pay after eating. A good amount of seating via tables & booths, Taj Mahal is located on the left of Kim Tar, adjacent to Pioneer Cash & Carry.

Cheap, filling eats. That's right up my alley. Taj Mahal Restaurant & Grocery is a great place to visit when craving Bangladeshi food. The portions are solid, and I'm looking forward to being a regular, whenever I want a rohu & curry fix.

Highly recommend!

Food has the potential to be better. One feedback is to heat the food better because even if its fresh it was no hot enough. Also take the microwave away from the counter, it looks bad when you heat food infront of customers. The server Shobhon is excellent, very helpful very kind. He deserves a raise!

I typically reserve my reviews for experiences that truly deserve a five-star rating, as I believe in recognizing the hard work and passion that goes into the restaurant industry. Unfortunately, my recent visit to Taj Mahal Restaurant and Grocery has compelled me to break that pattern.

To start with the food, I was genuinely disappointed. The dishes lacked the authenticity and flavor that one might expect from a place claiming to specialize in South Asian cuisine. It felt as though the ingredients were not fresh and the cooking lacked the care and attention that elevates a meal. I understand that every restaurant can have an off day, but the overall quality was simply not up to par.

However, what troubled me even more than the food was the service. It was a glaring issue that overshadowed my dining experience. The staff appeared overwhelmed and indifferent, lacking the basic principles of customer service. From the moment we walked in, there was a palpable sense of disorganization.

When we received our food, there was little to no follow-up from the staff. Our requests for extra napkins and water went ignored, and it felt as though our presence was more of an inconvenience than a privilege. Customer service is a vital part of any dining experience, and it was evident that there is a significant gap in training and awareness at Taj Mahal.

I sincerely hope that the management takes this feedback to heart. Every restaurant has the potential to improve, and with some attention to both their culinary offerings and customer interaction, Taj Mahal could become a place worth visiting. Until then, I am afraid I cannot recommend this establishment based on my experience.
