La Mexicana Restaurant

The best kept secret if you want a steak. This is the best Mexican food I've had in North County. I judge Mexican food starting with the rice and beans, and theirs is exceptional. It's a diner style environment, so if you're looking for hipster Mexican get on down the road. Otherwise this is the place.

Was craving some pozole and i have to say, hands down this hit the spot!! It was full of flavor, had plenty of meat, and on top of that the service was amazing. I was not expecting to be blown away by the food, chips and salsa, and friendly service. Will be back soon!

Ate lunch there today! Food was good until I found a fingernail in my refried beans!! Complained but was offered no apology or complimentary lunch! Probably won't be going back 😕

Pazole is not good. All bones no meat, served with onions and cilantro. No flavor. Salsa isn’t good either. Bummed I spent $50 on take out when I could’ve just made it at home.

In one month this place dropped off my favorites list. They quit making the breakfast omelette that was great.
I ordered the shrimp burrito, what a mistake. Small not good quality shrimp! The filling isn’t good and they don’t fry their tortilla crispy at all, just soft. This sucks for a shrimp burrito,

December….This is a great breakfast option and seen plenty of locals walking in for lunch. The omelettes are enormous and delicious, no cheap chef bs here! The Guaymas Omelette is something I’d recommend driving an hour for.
Nice server and calm inside. Their salsa is delicious too 🙌🏽

My husband and I enjoyed our scrumptious dinner very much. He had two beers while I enjoyed a sparkling sangria soda. The service was off-the-hook! We certainly recommend that anyone in the area try to dine at this restaurant! Thank you, Donna and Eric

Great food with outdated decor. Chips and salsa are the bomb. Utilizing the lunch menu is always a financially sound decision.

The cheese enchiladas were some of the best I've ever had. So cheesey and gooey. Portions were generous.

My best friend and I wanted to try something new, and we found that La Mexicana was a walkable distance to us. I'm not sure why we haven't tried it before, but the food here is GOOD. Hot and fresh, I'd usually take a picture before eating, but it was so good I couldn't help but start eating before I took the picture. There was more food before my best friend and I started. We ordered the platter for dinner (around $25-29). Sharing it was not an issue whatsoever. We couldn't finish it by the end. The proportions are Costco levels, which make it so good for the price. Could realistically feed three people in my opinion, unless you were really hungry. The waiters and people inside were so kind, and we didn't even have to try to ask them anything. They were always generous and helping. The atmosphere feels really inviting, something cozy and comfortable for a enjoyable experience. Feels like you're walking into a family restaurant. Overall, if you're on a budget, order the platter and share. You won't regret it! :D

This was delicious! We had vegetarian options and they were so great! I love that they put veggies like cauliflower and carrots in the burrito! I order the veggie burrito but get it wet with red Enchilada sauce and cheese. The fried ice cream was bomb as well!
