In town a few day's and have tried restaurants from Paso, Morro Bay, Templeton, and Atascadero. It was a Friday night and most other places in the area were very busy so we settled on this place. The restaurant was clean (front of house). The waitress was nice but had a bad memory. We had a tostada, chili verde enchilada, beef taco, beans & rice. The rice was dry, no flavor except salt. The beans were bland, and the enchilada had zero flavor. The tostada was not great, no flavor. We are definitely not in San Diego anymore Toto.

We've gone to Ortega's a few times during Covid, eaten in the restaurant when we were able, and done take out other times. The food is solidly good, and the prices aren't horrendous (although I find that a lot of the Mexican food in this area is expensive - even the most hole in the wall places charge a lot for a 2 taco plate at $12+). What I love most about Ortega's though are the variety of meal choices. They even have breakfast options. The salsa is good, we really love the enchiladas of all kinds, and I'm a big fan of the gigantic tostada salads they have too. I think it is easy to pass by this place because there's not a ton in the area where it's at, but it's worth a stop. The food is definitely homemade, and I like that it hasn't been sitting under a heating lamp for hours, or stuck in a microwave and heated up again. Worth a try for sure, even though I know there about 50,000 Mexican food places in A-Town!

We have been here quite a few times, and have always had exceptional service and food. We placed a to go order here for Thursday, since we are currently under "shelter-at-home". The service and food were just as amazing as the times we have been in to eat. Definitely try Ortega's and support your local businesses!!!
