It's now under new ownership and is now called "Suzy's". Excellent, authentic Mexican food. She has a menu but will put together anything you want within reason. Suzy is at the helm so the reason is clear why her food is great. Small dine in with outdoor seating in back or you can order to go. Best tasting spot around. Try it!

Went yesterday and found out the business has closed. Super bummed, we loved that place. The new owner was there getting ready and he assured me it will me even better than tia juanitas was. So I let him know I will be there next week when he said they will be open. It is going to be another Mexican restaurant fyi.

Hole in a wall. Good food, but not a place to have dinner with family.

My favorite Mexican place in Atascadero and my go to dinner. The service is amazing. The people who work there are so nice and the food is never disappointing. I'd recommend the nachos they are PACKED with everything I love.

This place is legit, best Mexican food in the County. I love hole in the wall Mexican places and this place doesn't disappoint. Walk in and you are greeted by old carpet, worn out seats, and a microwave on a crooked shelf. All signs of delicious Mexican food. My favorite dish is the chile verde. In taco, burrito, or whatever form. The nachos are massive and delicious. My go to place when I want delicious Mexican food.

This is my go-to place for excellent, authentic Mexican food. You really get a lot of wholesome food that's fresh, not from cans. The people are so nice. I should have left a review months ago, but I've been sharing them by word of mouth!

I am writing this review as I sit outside Tia Juanita's in my truck, now aware that they are closed, at a time that Yelp (and the sign on their door) says they are open. Deeply distraught. And still, I am giving them five stars. Because their tacos are amazing.

Don't come here if you are not hungry. Service was excellent! Beer was cold and food was hot and flavorful!

This place is awesome. Ordered a carne asada burrito and it was done in a couple minutes. When they brought it out, I noticed it was about the same size as my head. Really great flavor and way more burrito than any reasonable person should eat. The two guys working in there were super cool and friendly and gave great service. Definitely recommend.

F O O D: 4 STARS -The pickled peppers were fiery and spicy for me, just like I love them. The onions and carrots made my nose run, even though my acclimated housemate could *pop* the whole pepper in their mouth with ease. -I got the $3.25 Loaded Veggie Tacos (2) and the portion was large and enough to have more leftover for later in the day! Came dressed with plenty of rice, beans, raw veggies (lettuce, finely-diced fresh tomatoes, guacamole included , and I asked for no sour cream which is clearly stated on the menu behind the counter) -Housemate got a Veggie Sope and a Meat Sope. The tortillas were thick yet crispy and they ate as much as they could manage! Lots of lettuce, sour cream, cheese, fresh finely-diced tomatoes, beans, rice, and a couple more toppers. -Three spiciness levels of salsas to choose from. My favorite was the Medium Green Salsa. The person behind the counter refilled our chips (included with orders) and salsas before we left. We still have some in the fridge! -Housemate got a Horchata, once with ice and again without. I recommend without but that may be the Bolivian in me talking -The chips were not as fresh as they could be, but we drove home and toasted them and they were B O M B and crunched their way into our bellies A M B I A N C E: 5 STARS -You smell the deliciousness before you even walk through the door. -Beautiful view of greenery, despite being located on a main road -Scenic paintings and roomy booths with lots of natural sunlight -Feels "authentic" because it is - The taller, jolly man behind the counter was a joy to chat with and seemed genuinely happy to take our order and ensure it was made correctly and to our liking -The woman running the grill checked for an item immediately when we asked if they had in stock, despite being already crossed out on the menu. They did and were happy to make it for us, but we already were dreaming about the entrees we decided to order. - Extremely friendly, in both English and Spanish VEGAN FRIENDLY : YES! All orders can be modified and the staff genuinely cared about our orders being made to our taste. They are happy to answer all questions, explain what certain dishes are (as I'm not of Mexican culture), and hand-write the modifications to ensure accuracy. There is no vegan protein option beside beans, but the portions we got were filling and lasted us another meal. F I N A L L Y Will definitely come again when we're near the Atascadero area. Even over In N Out, which is across the street. The service is beyond excellent and the food was plentiful and had us licking our fingers. Thank you, Tia Juanita's!

Thank you, Tia Juanita's! You made our first-time visit to your little place a 5-star experience! We were at a late-night conference and, due to extenuating circumstances, didn't have time to eat beforehand. HUGE mistake because we were famished afterward. But where can one go in Atascadero, on a Monday, night minutes away from 9 pm, when every place seems to close around 8 o'clock? (Locals know exactly what I'm talking about. And, no, going to Denny's was NOT an option.) So, Yelped for help, typed In "Late Night Dining" and, voila!, up popped Tia Juanita's. Immediately called them (tick, tick, tick) and was prepared to beg them to please, just let us have whatever they had left over. But the owner assured me, "No, don't worry, we'll make you whatever you want!" A minute later we pulled in front, ran in, and he was as good as his word, and then some! I ordered the carne asada plate and my hubby a wet carnitas burrito. The owner prepared both cheerfully and then genuinely thanked us more than once for coming in -- such a nice man. When we got home, we opened our boxes and, whut?! Both meals were HUGE (especially that burrito!), delicious, and, oh, so comforting! Definitely give the good and gracious folk at Tia Juanita's a try; it'll be a win-win all around. Places this customer- and service-oriented deserve community support -- they sure have earned ours.
