This place has the best Mexican food hands down, in town & for the best price! Very reasonably priced meals! I love their carne asada chimichanga! The tortilla is crisp, yet melts in your mouth & I love the small chunks of carne, tender & seasoned to perfection! The chimichanga is cooked to perfection & my husband loves the chicken fajitas & he says they are the best he's ever had too! The carne quesadilla is awesome too! I can't wait to try everything else & I will because the taste is right on!!! The rice & beans are so good too, I am very picky about my Mexican food!!! Their salsa is the best I've ever had, along with the chimichanga!!! Friendly service, outstanding food!!! We are hooked, will keep coming back for more & more, YUM YUM? ? ? Service is quick too!!! They serve cerveza too! Highly recommend!!! They also have take out!!! A must try if you love great Mexican food!!!

Great tasting food at affordable prices. I stopped in for lunch and had the special, super quesadilla with al pastor. The al pastor was excellent with the perfect amount of spices. The staff was very friendly and chatted with me about the restaurant. A good place to stop for lunch on a drive over the Sierra Mountains.

I dont think any restaurant deserves a 1 Stat review unless they completely failed, but my experiences at El Portal should be noted as something they can improve. My wife and I ate here for dinner over the weekend and I ordered the Chile Verde super burrito wet. I will praise them for portion size, as most Mexican restaurants are not giving their customers what they pay for. The problem with my burrito is that they skimped on the meat. Most of the burrito was beans, rice and cheese. I got to the middle of the burrito and I said, they really did not give me much chile verde in this burrito. O was hoping the other half is where the honey hole of chile verde was at. Sadly, it didnt get any better. They need to work on giving their customers what they pay for. Pork has really not gone up much in price compared to beef. I felt like they went cheap on me. Also, the chile verde is way too tangy. They need to work on their recipe. This is coming from somone that eats Mexican 3-4 days a week. I will be moving into the area and I want to give my business to you. Hopefully, these things can get corrected otherwise their are other Mexican restaurants in the area.

We frequent this delicious establishment often. The services friendly and fast, the food is surprisingly tasty. One of the points that I enjoy is that most meals come with sour cream and guacamole with no additional charge.

Food is so so. Not what I would call authentic. The enchilada sauce is bright red tomato sauce. Better food on 49 by El Forestero and El Tapatio.

This place isn't what it used to be. Prices significantly higher for same portions. Service not great. Guy took our order but never submitted it. 20 mins later the other wait person asked if we were ready to order!? She confessed the other waiter forgot to submit our order so we had to order again and wait. There are many other Mex places in Auburn much better in quality value and service.

Came in for lunch around 11:00 AM. They were open I was able to order immediately the price was reasonable. I got a three item combination plate, and the flowers were awesome crispy yummy. The rice was excellent. The crispy taco was the best ever had and the tostada out of this world. I would suggest anybody driving by living nearby, or just looking for a Great Taco, please come here….
