I used to love this place but it's not a good as it used to be. I was there last week and I know that it's hard to get good help these days but the poor kid behind the counter was challenged. There, on the menu board, was listed a two item combination and then below it a three item combination. It describe the choices that you could get with the two item and the three item choices were different. I told him I wanted a three item combination but I wanted the Chile Relleno, a Tamale and a Taco. Can't do it he said. The Chile Relleno is only an option with the two item combination. I'm thinking, really you can't just build what I want and charge me accordingly. Something like "that will cost an extra $2.50 to get the Chile Relleno on the three item combo". Not gonna happen. I settled for something else. My order to go was about $45.00. I noticed a note on the counter that chips & salsa would be $2.50 for the first basket, I presume that meant with free refills. Chips and Salsa used to be included free. I know times are a little hard now and costs have risen so paying for Chips & Salsa is Ok. I told him I would like to get an order of Chips & Salsa while I was waiting for my order. He told me "Those are only for dine-in customers". I said are you serious? He was, and I couldn't get Chips & Salsa for my wait. Now if you're going to charge $2.50 for a basket of chips and some salsa and then give free refills to customers hanging out in the restaurant, why wouldn't you want to sell me the same basket for the same price? I'm most likely not going to be around for any free refills. Seems they are not only losing money with this stupid policy but is was enough for me to give it a year or two before I go back and try again. The to go order food was fine but not as good as it used to be!

Very long waits, very few tables, high prices -- go to Chipotle or Qdoba instead because this place is not worth it.

What a treat! We walked in just as they were closing (at 8:00pm!) and they explained we wouldn't be able to eat in the restaurant but they would be happy to fill our order and box it to go. We ordered too much as it all sounded so good, and it was ready in about 15 minutes. Delicious! Chile rellanos, chicken tostada, a dinner sized quesadilla with carnitas.... Tacos.... Fantastic! We took it back to our hotel and could not have been happier!!

First time here and the food was great! The burrito had a lot of meat and lots of flavor. The asada fries were nice and hot and the asada meat was tender. We live in Roseville but will be back soon. Thank you for the great service!

We ordered a shrimp burrito and beef tacos. The shrimp burrito was large and filling, no complaints there. But for the tacos, it was lucky we noticed how cheap it was- just 3 dollars. We realized that one portion of tacos only came with a single, fist sized taco. So we ordered two, and that was fine. Just something to be aware of. The tacos were flavorful, but the tortillas were soggy and falling apart.

Maria's restaurant came highly recommended. My sister has been missing good Mexican food since she moved to Grass Valley from LA, so we decided to try Maria's. We both ordered Chile rellenos, which were huge and decently edible, although they came without the stem (a first for me). The beans and rice, however, were inedible. They tasted like something was wrong with them; I couldn't be sure what. We were both VERY disappointed!

Was heading back from Tahoe and this is the place to stop for tacos or burritos, free refills on agua frescas burrito and tacos were on point great flavor and hot salsa definitely had a little kick to it. Overall 5/5 great experience. Will be returning

I was hoping this place would be good because the reviews were good. The inside was dark and all of the tables had leftover food on them. We were charged for a super burrito instead of regular and instead of refunding they threw in a side of guacamole even though we don't need or want it. The food is ok. Chips needed salt and salsa just tasted like tomatoes. The rice and beans were somehow acidic, but the main courses were ok.

Maria's is the real thing -- just delicious food. You can visit the restaurant (in Auburn right off the 1-80 ramp) and sit indoors or outside at their sunlit patio). They have a nice variety of cold beers on tap. She also has a food truck that is often at Crooked Lane Brewing or at a few local spots. Especially recommend the fantastic carnitas tacos. The burritos are also great.

Hands down the best carnitas tacos I've ever had! Had them at a golf tournament at the Ridge! Crispy pork with all the right toppings and a delicious hot salsa on the top! I'll be back in the area soon for sure just to get this again!
