This place is charming, comfortable, friendly with a reliably good menu. It has a “Cheers” type local welcoming appeal.

Excellent food and service. Very positive experience and a great place to have a upscale dining experience in Auburn.

Good food. Would recommend, was very busy for Valentine's Day never got my drink I asked for.

When we got there they said they didn't have our reservation after confirming it twice. We did get a table though.

Pot pie and grandma's honey chicken is delicious! Good place as well as very good deserts!

We love Max's from SanFran. The food is very consistent, but the service has been questionalbe for the past 10 years of stopping in Auburn from Reno. Seems like they only cater to locals and don't care about travelers. Example: We were seated today. Cashier cleared and wiped table but did not set the table, give menus or even ask about drinks. Took another 15 minutes for our server to appear, and she only brought napkins. Took another 10 minutes to get menus and silverware. When the order was taken, food came fast. We only spent an hour there, but when you are paying 75.00 for lunch of 3 people, I expect a little more gratitude. I know serving is hard, and they depend on tips, but here it seems to be expected, and they don't want to earn it. We will continue to go there, but we know what to expect.

Parking: Available when place is not too busy.

Kid-friendliness: Kids friendly

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room and bathroom accessible, too.

We tried the pastrami sandwich and the burger. The pastrami was horrible and dry. Just thick sliced meat and cheese on dry bread. No pickle, so sauce, no mustard, just a crappy sandwich I could not eat. The burger was ok, but dry meat.

Parking: Odd parking in a back of a hotel.

This is our go-to spot for a comfortable and solid American meal. They serve the freshest and the most savory cobb salad in a 10 mile radius. We like to order it with crumbled blue cheese and vinaigrette dressings, both made fresh in house. We also really enjoy their gigantic chicken pot pie, hot soups and desserts. The menu offers something for everyone. We also come for the luxuriously comfortable indoor seating and the quality service which are harder to find at places that prioritize cold hard wooden or metal chairs for turnovers over guest comfort. This place can be hard to find, like the other guests mentioned that you have to go past the Holiday Inn parking lot, but well worth it when you get there.

Excellent service and food. I had the best patty melt I may have ever eaten. This restraunt is associated with the Holiday Inn in Auburn. Although I live in Roseville, I will absolutely go back. I met a golfing buddy there who lives in Grass Valley. If you crave excellent service and sandwich type food, this is a must place to visit.

Overall it was good. Had the Chinese Chicken salad, it was tasty but the chicken was a tiny bit dry.
The service was good.
The booth seat was a bit worn and sagging, so I sat low to the table like I was a child. lol!
Wish they still had the old version of the Spinach salad, but sadly it was taken off the menu years ago.

I had never been to Max's before although I live in Auburn. I was very pleased with my meal , the waitress, and the atmosphere.

The chicken pot pie and the mushroom ravioli are OBVIOUSLY homemade and DELICIOUS. I'm here for a one time event, but I would pull a heist to get the recipes!!

Classic large deli sandwiches, salads and cannot miss signature matzo ball soup. Glad that Auburn still have this Americana restaurant.
