Monkey Cat | Restaurant & Bar

They’ve changed the entire menu, including the drink menu, and they’re trying to be something hip, fancy and unaffordable. This is Auburn, not San Francisco. This used to be our go-to restaurant in Auburn, but after our experience last week, we won’t be back!

I wish I could give this place more stars, because I was really hoping to love this place. We were here for a celebration, and was really hoping to have a lovely meal. We even drove from Folsom to try this place. When we arrived, we noticed that the restaurant looked different from the photos, and the menu was more limited then online. Waited a long time to get water and menus, we were there at 5:00 and the place was empty. The best thing about our visit was our server though she was great.. She was bright, very friendly and funny. The rest of the service lacked, there were several staff just milling about, and passed our table several times without filling our water or even asking how we were doing. It also took a long time to get our food. My steak was cooked perfectly mid rare (yay!) but the rest on the plate was not very good. My husband ordered the risotto - I LOVE risotto so we were excited, but it was cold- bland and soggy-and we were expecting seafood on the risotto as described, but we only got 2 scallops on it... frankly was the worst risotto I'd ever tasted. SO disappointed. The portions were also very small for the price. Again, We really wanted to love this place, but for the price of what we got, will not be back.

Awesome food in a very beautiful space! The chef and crew prepares the most fabulous food! And the mixed drinks were fantastic. Service was great, friendly and fast, and we were never wanting. Mains were all perfect, shrimp corn dogs were delicious, and the carmel cheese cake and butter cake were sublime!

The Monkey Cat is one of my favorite spots in Auburn. The vibe’s chill yet fancy. They have a cute little bar. My only complaint would be to have a bigger bourbon selection! But i'm a snob that way. The food has always been yummy and the staff have great attitudes. I love this place.

We absolutely love Monkey Cat! We come here often and the food and service is always above and beyond! The staff are all friendly and kind and very knowledgeable of the menu and drink selections. We always recommend Monkey Cat to friends and neighbors!

Erica was my server. She's quite amazing. Her personality is unbelievable! And a professionalism is right there!

Spinach dip and bread was off the hook..... chicken cordon bleu wasn't on the menu, However the stuffed chicken was excellent ,definitely will order again ,

had a great business lunch with our team. Food was delicious. Service was excellent and were able to hold a conversation without noise in the background.

Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service is very good and i liked our location in the restaurant. We were planning on staying a bit longer after the meal but the noise level was higher than we liked.

Went there tonight at least 15 people left while we were there , 45 mins never got food we also left.
Not going back very poor service.

Service was quite slow even at 5:15. Server was difficult to understand. When she described the specials for the night, we thought the entrée she described was a side dish. After we got our appetizer, we waited 45 minutes before we were served our entrée which was not what we expected the tomato soup was not very good at all. Neither were the lamb chops. Much higher expectations for $100 dinner for 2.

Got a table outside so we could hear and it was wonderful and food good! Thanks. We'll be back.
