Service was quite slow even at 5:15. Server was difficult to understand. When she described the specials for the night, we thought the entrée she described was a side dish. After we got our appetizer, we waited 45 minutes before we were served our entrée which was not what we expected the tomato soup was not very good at all. Neither were the lamb chops. Much higher expectations for $100 dinner for 2.

Got a table outside so we could hear and it was wonderful and food good! Thanks. We'll be back.

Our favorite place for special occasions and to bring friends! Outstanding service and consistently great food.

Excellent food and service. My girlfriend's filet was not cooked to her liking after she cut into it and they brought her a new filet. First Class!

Love the atmosphere of this restaurant paired with amazing food! The surf on turf special was very tasty. Above par service made things perfect.

The experience was acceptable, but overpriced. There are much better values in the Auburn area unfortunately, as I would like to see monkey cat continue to survive.

Had a fabulous pre-Valentine's Day dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tomato Gorgonzola Soup, Beef Shortribs, Seafood Risotto, and Lemon Cake. The service was stellar, as well. And they even had wine from one of my favorite local wineries, Dono dal Cielo. Definitely going back soon!

The only negative was the sudden cold breeze every time the front door was opened. The food and service are excelent.

My wife and I along with a visiting couple had a wonderful dinner on 10/22. The seafood risotto was unbelievable! Also the Chicken Cordon bleu was some of the best I’ve had. Our server was friendly and very attentive! We highly recommend this great Auburn restaurant. We will be back

My future daughter in law asked me if I could help put together a rehearsal lunch or dinner for their wedding...I was so honored and wanted to make sure that I found the perfect place. After visiting various restaurants, The Monkey Cat was it!! The owners, Jennifer and Jared, made sure we were well taken care of and their party coordinator, Erica, made planning and coordinating a dream! We had a group of 29 - the "party room" could handle 25 people maximum but Erica set up an area on their patio for the overflow and it worked out perfect! Our group included vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, dairy free, and a combination of "all of the above" individuals - which can be a challenge for many restaurants. Erica navigated these waters with ease and we had a menu that addressed all of our requests.
Since the wedding rehearsal was at 10:30am in Forest Hill, we decided to have a rehearsal lunch at The Monkey Cat immediately following our rehearsal. Erica opened the doors up early so that a friend of mine could enter the party room and decorate prior to our arrival. The place settings were perfect and the food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed scrumptious appetizers at every table, a choice of 2 salads along with 3 entree options. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals! The service was fantastic! All of the staff were so gracious, friendly and fun - high energy and they genuinely care. I felt truly Blessed to have found this restaurant and look forward to having more dinners, lunches and parties there in the future! If you want to have a memorable event - I highly recommend the Monkey Cat!!!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Monkey Cat for the first time, and it was an experience to remember. We sat outside in the beautiful garden with great music and vibes. The beef stroganoff special, featuring tender filet tips, was absolutely phenomenal—rich and hearty with just the right amount of creaminess. The coconut-flavored chicken vegetable stir fry was equally impressive, bursting with vibrant flavors of sweet and saavory with chili oil and fresh seasonal vegetables. The local beer selection was exceptional offering Crooked Lane and Knee Deep on tap.

But the true star of the meal was the fresh-baked "bread service" appetizer accompanied by homemade honey cinnamon butter. It was warm, soft, and utterly addictive, elevating the entire dining experience.

Our server, Erika "Urka", added a special touch to the evening. Having previously worked for Disney, she radiated happiness and enthusiasm, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. Her attentiveness and genuine joy were refreshing and made our visit even more enjoyable.

Overall, Monkey Cat exceeded our expectations with its delicious food and exceptional service. It is a hidden gem in Auburn and we can't wait to return soon for their live music Thursdays in the garden.

Delicious dinner and a beautiful restaurant. We found ourselves in auburn, CA, for equine training and stumbled upon Monkey Cat. The steak was perfect, the chicken was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. If you're looking for fine dining in the area look no further. Can also recommend the atmosphere... beautiful indoor and outdoor seating.

Great food thank God because the service sucks now idk where the previous waitress went but I wish she would have been there still. I don't think we will go back because they have great food horrible service and extremely high prices
