I was so excited to try this Texas bbq place in Auburn but oh my, I guess I got reheated leftover day. Dry meat with too much sauce to try and rehydrate. Soda was flat, sides were OK at best. Darn!

It's so hard to find real BBQ in the area. Smokey Pit was not the Holy Grail I was hoping to find. The brisket was okay, however it was shredded and smothered in sauce. The pork ribs were very fatty and seemed like they had been reheated. The restaurant in itself seem to be not very sanitary and that obviously is a huge red flag. I'd give this place a pass next time and pray that something better shows up in the Auburn area.
I feel bad posting this because the gentleman who served us was kind. But the food was premade and microwaved, drowning in bbq sauce and the chicken was so dry it was hard to bite into. The macaroni salad had way too much mustard and relish. It’s super dirty, almost unsanitary and the kitchen is an absolute disaster. The drink machine has mold inside the dispenser. So so nasty. We all felt sick about an half after eating here and no one finished their food. I am not sure how they got so many good reviews.

Best brisket I've had in California, the owner was working solo and managed to get our food out quickly and provide us with a delicious family meal. Always appreciate supporting local businesses especially when the owner is obviously working hard to make it work, great food, great prices and great location to hit on the way to or from truckee

Delicious pork ribs, homemade mashed potatoes, and chili beans. Nothing was oversalted, which I appreciate. Servings so big I was able to get 3 meals out of it. Nice smoked flavor on the ribs. Yummy special treat!

The food was alright but it seemed like it had been previously frozen and the texture was off. The service was fine and welcoming. The restaurant was dirty and weathered, as expected for a strip mall, hole-in-the-wall establishment. This is not Texas style bbq.
