I was really looking forward to dining at Bluewater Avalon, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. I ordered the sea bass, and it was both undercooked and lacking in flavor â definitely not what Iâd expect from a place with such a great reputation.
That being said, the saving grace of the evening was our server, who was absolutely fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and professional, they made the experience much better despite the food. The view and overall vibe of the restaurant are also top-notch â beautiful and relaxing.
If the kitchen can step up the quality and execution of the food, this would easily be a five-star spot.

We came here for dinner on our first night in Catalina, and it was good choice. Everyone liked their meals and the fries were the best ones we had on the island. My sea bass was meh, lacked in flavor, but everything else was very good! We got:

Had an incredible experience at Bluewater in Catalina. The Togarashi Spiced Ahi Tuna was phenomenalâperfectly seared with bold flavors and great texture. Also tried the clam chowder, which was rich and comforting. The rest of the dishes were excellent too â fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Add to that the breathtaking harbor views, and youâve got the perfect coastal dining spot. Highly recommend

The place is nice. Also the food maybe good but the fish and chips isn't on of them. The fish was about the size of a fish stick.there was 3 small pieces. And the chips were frozen fries.And for $26. I want a piece of fish and real chips.

Waited in there wait time 30 minutes just to wait another 40 minutes at our table. The food was horrible and so was the service. The only good thing was the view.

Around 2 PM during the day, I went to the restaurant to try and make a reservation. They told me they donât take reservations, but if we came around 6:30 PM, we would wait no more than 20 minutes. I arrived at 6:40 PM with my family. First, they said the wait would be 45 minutes. Then they told us it would be another 30 minutes. After that, they said, âYour table is ready, weâll seat you in 10 minutes.â Then they brought us inside and said, âYour table is ready, weâre just cleaning it now.â But after another 15 minutes passed, they told us they didnât know when our table would actually be ready.
Meanwhile, many people were walking past us saying, âWe have a reservation,â and they were being seated right awayâwhile we were told earlier that they didnât take reservations.
Donât let this restaurant fool you. They lie, waste your time, and leave your whole family hungry. In a place with so many great options, donât waste your time here.

Restaurant on the beach! Great vibe and view of the boats on Catalina island. I forgot the name of the dish I had which was the fish and mash potatoes as you can see. It was ok. But the pasta was amazing.

Steak waa overcooked and lacked char and flavor. Food came out barely warm, and the salmon was tasty, flaky, but the portion was small. I can't overlook the fact that the party next to us order came first when we ordered first. We received our order for 14 min late.

The food was 10/10 but the service was 100/10. My mom and I loved our waitress. Only reason I'm leaving a review is because Alana was excellent! Funny, and took care of us so well! Food was exemplary, must try restaurant for any meal of the day!! The view made for some great pictures from our vacation. Can not recommend Bluewater enough, and try the Coconut Margarita! We had 3 đđč
