We came to Descanso Beach Club expecting the usual—sun, cocktails, huzz. What we found was something more: incredible service and an unexpected friendship in Julian.
From the moment we arrived, Julian made us feel at ease. He wasn’t just attentive—he made us feel protected, like someone genuinely had our back. In the midst of the beach club’s energy, his calm, steady presence stood out.
Julian didn’t just serve us; he looked out for us. And by the end of the day, we realized we hadn’t just had a great time—we’d made a connection we won’t forget.

Redbull trash can full, vibes immaculate, service so good we started wondering if he owned the place. Then he casually plugs the other restaurants they run (marketing king Julian) and boom—we’re eating one of the best steaks of our lives later that night. Julian is the unsung hero of Catalina. The views are absolutely breathtaking – crystal-clear turquoise water, swaying palms, and a relaxed yet upscale vibe that immediately sets the tone for an unforgettable day.
But what truly elevated our experience was the service, especially from Julian. This guy is a total gem – the kind of person who makes you feel like you’re not just a guest, but a VIP. Julian was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure every moment was perfect. Whether it was recommending the perfect cocktail (get the Red Bull Trash Can – trust him!) or making sure our cabana was stocked and spotless, he handled everything with professionalism and a friendly charm that honestly made our day.
It’s rare to find someone who is both efficient and genuinely kind, but Julian is that person. He was constantly checking in (without being intrusive), always smiling, and clearly takes a lot of pride in his work. You can tell he loves what he does, and it absolutely shows in the way he treats every guest.
Between the stunning setting, the delicious food and drinks, and the top-tier service – especially from Julian – Descanso Beach Club is the definition of paradise. We’re already planning our next trip back, and you can bet we’ll be asking if Julian’s working that day.

But what truly elevated our visit was the incredible service from Julian. He was an absolute legend from start to finish. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around, he made sure we had everything we needed before we even had to ask. King Julian’s energy lit up our whole day, and it honestly felt like we were hanging out with a friend. My one and only complaint was that we couldn’t hangout with Julian longer!
If you’re heading to Catalina, do not miss Descanso Beach Club—and if you’re lucky enough to be in King Julian’s section, prepare for a royal beach day you won’t forget.

Cold beer, tasty food, and a prime location on one of Catalina's most scenic beaches. The bartenders are helpful and friendly, and are willing to work with you on a better rum cocktail if you give some direction. Most of the cocktail menu consists of lazy syrupy tourist concoctions.

We spent an entire afternoon, relaxing here and taking in the views. It truly feels like you’re on a Caribbean island with the amazing music playing. Danny was our server and he was so lovely and personable. He proactively asked us if we wanted to take pictures which was so thoughtful. The drinks were strong but pretty expensive. We had the lettuce wraps which were so flavorful. I also had the fish sandwich and it was so fresh! They have cabanas and beach chairs available to rent for the day, but they are quite expensive. It’s free to lay on the beach if you bring your own towel. The water was super clear and we saw several bright orange Garibaldi fish. We went in March and it was a pretty calm vibe and not too crowded. However, I think it turns into a party destination with the DJ in the summer. So it depends on what kind of vibe you’re looking for.

If you are Hispanic, avoid coming here, we have been here since 2 pm and we were told we are not welcome here because they close at 4 pm. They keep welcoming any non-color non-Hispanic people here but somehow Hispanics are at capacity 👎

very nice! amazing view, great service, and very relaxing. we went at the end of the season (late november/early december), and it was still a blast. we particularly enjoyed how few people there are at this time.

The beach club is closed during the winter season but you can still visit it. We absolutely loved it - it’s still gorgeous in winter and so dog friendly!
