I will not have Mexican food at any other place in Bakersfield. Only there from now on I’ve been living back in Bakersfield for five years now and never have eaten here when I tried it today I was happy with the food taste and I’ll never go anywhere else.

Recently celebrated my birthday here and let me tell you this place was awesome. They had a room in the back where all my friends and family could all hang out. Food was great, service was great and drinks were great. Thanks to everyone who made it an awesome experience. Will come back sooner then later thanks everyone.

The Gold Standard for Mexican Food in SD! By far the best Mexican food in San Diego! The atmosphere is insane—they have 3,000 bottles on display and a selection of 750 different tequilas. We started with a tequila flight and every single one was top-tier. For food, the trio ceviche was outstanding, and both the fish and beef tacos were a perfect 10/10. Honestly, the quality is so high even Gordon Ramsay would give this place a Michelin star! ⭐️
This was our first time trying this restaurant, and we made a reservation for a party of six to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is located upstairs and parking is a little scarce, so just be prepared to use the stairs and perhaps walk from street parking. The ambiance is a mix of restaurant and bar, and it was relatively quiet during our dinner save for a table of gentlemen nearby who were enjoying themselves and their drinks. We did very much enjoy the food; however, the service was a little spotty. Clearing our dishes and empty glasses wasn't consistent, and we had to stack items regularly as new plates and such were brought out. The table for six of us was just enough room for sitting and chatting, but a little cramped for all of the appetizers and drinks we were enjoying. I would visit again but hope the service is more consistent and accessible.

We've visited El Agave many times, but last night the service was indifferent -- and the woman at the bar was borderline hostile when I asked for a spoon. (A person in our party had dropped their spoon.) She said "I don't have spoons" (with an edge in her tone) and walked away without volunteering to ask someone else. This seems like a small thing, but it matters when you are there to have an enjoyable experience. Maybe she was just having a bad night. But at $50 a person, El Agave is not a fast food joint.

The food was amazing, I had the Short Rib Poblano great. Highly recommend Tequila Old Fashioned a little pricey for a cocktail, worth every penny. The service was spectacular as well.
