Cute little family owned small business. This place has an extensive menu with so many yummy dishes. We have been a couple times & the service is great & the food is even better. We have tried many different dishes & shared & enjoyed them all. Decent size portions. We've tried Chow Mein, Udon, Miso Ramen, Wontons, Egg Rolls, Boba Tea, Veggie Tempura, SteamedVeggies, Fried Rice & a couple more. Wontons were kinda small but really good. The egg rolls are more like fried spring rolls. I haven't ever remembered to get pics of the food before digging in 🤣 Updated from previous review on 2025-06-29

Through the sea of positive reviews, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on food alone. I have patronized many vegan establishments over the years and this one leaves much to be desired. I hate to give a vegan establishment such a low rating, however I’d be remiss if I didn’t share my experience.

I ordered takeout for myself. The sushi rolls (I ordered two) included sweet potato, avocado, and cucumber, however, I could not pick up any taste of sweet potato. In fact, I went back to the counter to make sure it was sweet potato and not carrot (see pics). The rolls also lacked flavor, with an overwhelming taste of mayo throughout. No amount of soy sauce packets could cover up the disappointing, mayo-filled blandness.

I ordered Tom Kha, as well as the papaya salad, spice level 8. The papaya salad, though fresh, was not spicy. Perhaps ordering a 10 would have done me justice. The dish also lacked the complex fusion of acidity and sweetness that I’m used to, having had great experiences with every papaya salad I’ve encountered up until now. It tasted like watery tomatoes in my opinion; again, flat in flavor. Though I was able to flavor it with my own ingredients to make it salvageable, I was not able to salvage the soup or the sushi rolls. The soup, though hot to the touch, was not good. Very few tofu bits and overcooked veggies (mainly cabbage). I’ve never had Tom Kha taste so… off.

I only sat in front to wait on the food, so I can’t attest to their seating area. No one came out to ask about servicing me or inquire if I had an online order until another patron came inside looking to be seated. The front area was pretty dusty (especially their plants, which another reviewer has mentioned).

Since I ordered takeout, this is a review and rating on the food taste and quality I received. To be frank, I’ve never been served such low quality vegan food in my 8 years of being vegan; I have to re-emphasize that. I went out of my way to drive to this location and am left with many regrets.

All selections are vegan. Plenty of soy based options. Many good selections such as Thai & Japanese. The cook didn't read our omissions to our order and prepared it as usual making one of the dishes undesirable.

Tons of options. Flavorful. Nice dine in.

We stopped on our way from San Francisco to San Diego. Only fully vegan restaurant in a long stretch. And it was amazing. The food is delicious. Large portions. And the staff soooo sweet! Worth the detour from the 5 to check this place out.

Weā€˜re here on vacation and went to dinner at Asian vegan Bistro for the first time. I liked it a lot and found pricing fair and food delicious. No complaints.

I wish I had this wonderful restaurant in my home town! It offers a great variety of vegan Asian dishes - it was hard to choose! They very happily adapted our meals to be gluten free too.

Asian Vegan Bistro is close to home. When I went vegan I started eating here. It's a nice, quiet atmosphere (I hate noisy places) and the service is great. The food is quality too. Everything I have ordered has been at least good and a couple items were fantastic. The good items I just don't know what I am ordering. But I am adventurous so I like to order things I have never eaten. The best thing is here they everything's vegan and they have multiple Asian countries types of food. You don't need to always ask if something is vegan or worry about cross-contamination.

Amazing food and amazing service. The decor is a bit beat up, but it honestly adds to the charm. The yakisoba was a hit.

A vegan paradise!! Can’t wait to go back and try everything else.
Got the teriyaki ā€œchickenā€, ā€tunaā€ roll, and ā€œbeefā€ chow mein. Everything was delicious. The prices are great. The service was great.
Place definitely needs an upgrade and love inside but it’s just a treat.

The food was not good at all. There was no flavor. Everything was bland. It almost tasted like it was frozen and reheated. I love that they have a ton of vegan options but they just are not worth it.

I cannot deny, the food was great.

However, if I pay $27, for two bowls of soup, I would like it to be worth it.

In two bowls of soup, I received nine (9), pieces of small cut Tofu.

That is nine piece in total, not in each.

When I called, I was told that's all we give.

So with an odd number of Tofu, for two people, does one get the extra or do we cut it in half?

Come on Asian Vegan Bistro, you get 18 large sized chunks of Tofu out of a pack that cost you at a maximum $3.00. Quit being stingy.

The decor and atmosphere were great.

Do I recommend this place, tentatively yes. Their food is great, just skimpy.

As I said before, the food is great.

This time, I dined in, no take out.

The atmosphere is totally Asian and wonderful.

My server was an absolute doll. Super quite, so I missed her name, but she was excellent.

I still did not like my take out experience, but I highly recommend dining in at the Asian Vegan Bistro.

Fantastic flavors. Chow mein and drunkin noodle were great.
