It’s great to have a vegan restaurant in an area with no other vegan restaurants around. The space is really big with some interesting decor, and the menu is extensive. So many options! Drink menu is great too with lots of tea and smoothie options. We tried the pho, tom yum noodle, yellow curry, larb tofu, mango smoothie, and green tea with mango. The pho was pretty disappointing and did not look like the picture in the menu- it came with no lime and no basil and no fresh greens on top, and when we requested lime and basil they said they didn’t have any basil but were able to give us two slices of lemon. The broth for the pho was also really simple and didn’t have any notes of anise, it was probably just some vegetable stock. Definitely don’t recommend the pho. Everything else was really good! And the drinks were wonderful- not too sweet. I’d swing by here again and try some other menu items.

I was so happy to discover this place when I was in Bakersfield a while ago and everything I ate here was amazing. What impressed me the most was the wide variety of unique options here, such as the vegan honey walnut shrimp, which was incredibly good! In fact, we ordered quite a few different dishes with the vegan shrimp in them; all of them were delicious and the vegan shrimp was some of the best vegan seafood I’ve had in a while. The chow mein topped with vegan ham was another one of my favorites and was remarkably filling with incredible flavor. Everything I had here was excellent, and I encourage anyone in the area to try this place.

Please come support this small vegan business, the food is good and there’s plenty of options!!! I got the pad see ew, avocado and cucumber roll, and gyoza. Everything is fairly priced and you won’t regret it!

Asian Vegan Bistro is hands down one of Bakersfield’s hidden gems. 🌱✨

The magic here is that literally everything on the menu is vegan—and it spans the best of Asian cuisine: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean. You don’t have to pick and choose—you get it all in one spot.

I’ve brought my partner, family, friends, and even acquaintances here, and every single one of them walked away impressed. My youngest sister and I especially love it—it’s become one of our favorite go-to’s.
• The Soy Beef with Broccoli & Mushrooms is hearty, flavorful, and feels just like a classic stir-fry.
• Their Vegan Chow Mein is comfort in a bowl—noodles pan-fried perfectly with plant-based protein.
• The Crispy Tofu Tempura with Rice & Broccoli is golden and light, with that perfect crunch.
• And the Yakisoba / Pad See Eaw noodles are simple, veggie-packed, and satisfying.

The portions are generous, the flavors are on point, and it’s such a rare treat to find a place where you can explore multiple Asian cuisines 100% plant-based. Highly recommended for vegans, vegetarians, or honestly anyone who enjoys delicious food.

Delicious fresh food, only complaint is that the portions are small, we had to order three main entrees.

My family and I were pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was! We came with a party of 10 and were quickly seated, ordered smoothly, and the food came out in decent time. The menu is arranged by each cuisine with a nice selection of dishes and quality drink options as well. We all ordered and shared different dishes, which were all delicious and authentic! I ordered the beef chow mein (the best I've ever had!), and the beef tasted roast duck! Will definitely be returning if I find myself in Bakersfield again

Clearly understaffed, Thai Tea with boba was so bad that I couldn't finish it, and the food was mediocre at best. We waited an extremely long time to place and receive our order. This establishment really needs some TLC and additional staff to reach it's full potential.

Cute little family owned small business. This place has an extensive menu with so many yummy dishes. We have been a couple times & the service is great & the food is even better. We have tried many different dishes & shared & enjoyed them all. Decent size portions. We've tried Chow Mein, Udon, Miso Ramen, Wontons, Egg Rolls, Boba Tea, Veggie Tempura, SteamedVeggies, Fried Rice & a couple more. Wontons were kinda small but really good. The egg rolls are more like fried spring rolls. I haven't ever remembered to get pics of the food before digging in 🤣 Updated from previous review on 2025-06-29

Through the sea of positive reviews, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on food alone. I have patronized many vegan establishments over the years and this one leaves much to be desired. I hate to give a vegan establishment such a low rating, however I’d be remiss if I didn’t share my experience.

I ordered takeout for myself. The sushi rolls (I ordered two) included sweet potato, avocado, and cucumber, however, I could not pick up any taste of sweet potato. In fact, I went back to the counter to make sure it was sweet potato and not carrot (see pics). The rolls also lacked flavor, with an overwhelming taste of mayo throughout. No amount of soy sauce packets could cover up the disappointing, mayo-filled blandness.

I ordered Tom Kha, as well as the papaya salad, spice level 8. The papaya salad, though fresh, was not spicy. Perhaps ordering a 10 would have done me justice. The dish also lacked the complex fusion of acidity and sweetness that I’m used to, having had great experiences with every papaya salad I’ve encountered up until now. It tasted like watery tomatoes in my opinion; again, flat in flavor. Though I was able to flavor it with my own ingredients to make it salvageable, I was not able to salvage the soup or the sushi rolls. The soup, though hot to the touch, was not good. Very few tofu bits and overcooked veggies (mainly cabbage). I’ve never had Tom Kha taste so… off.

I only sat in front to wait on the food, so I can’t attest to their seating area. No one came out to ask about servicing me or inquire if I had an online order until another patron came inside looking to be seated. The front area was pretty dusty (especially their plants, which another reviewer has mentioned).

Since I ordered takeout, this is a review and rating on the food taste and quality I received. To be frank, I’ve never been served such low quality vegan food in my 8 years of being vegan; I have to re-emphasize that. I went out of my way to drive to this location and am left with many regrets.

All selections are vegan. Plenty of soy based options. Many good selections such as Thai & Japanese. The cook didn't read our omissions to our order and prepared it as usual making one of the dishes undesirable.

Tons of options. Flavorful. Nice dine in.
