Great service. Our waiter was by himself and handled everything perfectly. Also I believe there was only one cook and he banged it out!! I

We ordered breakfast for dinner. My husband had pancakes, bacon , scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. I had bacon, eggs, country potatoes, and a biscuit. Good taste and very large portions. We really could have shared one plate. Service was excellent and our server was warm and welcoming. There's loads of parking. Would definitely recommend.
Went for lunch with my boyfriend and our waiter Ismael was absolutely amazing! Great service and even greater food! Definitely will be coming again! Huge thank you to Ismael for his amazing customer service! 🫶

I overnighted in Bakersfield on a roadtrip and was looking for local fare. I didn't know it was a chain, started in Mount Shasta in 1995 and now many locations Cross the West. Glad I didn't know this before sitting down, because it's the perfect feel of a Northwest diner. I went with "The Grizz" breakfast of eggs, hash browns, meats, with a (unpictured) plate of sweat cream pancakes. The pancakes were exceptional. Downside was that my pancakes took almost 20 minutes to get to me after my main breakfast plate. Super friendly service, though.
This is unfortunately the third and final time we have ate at black bear diner. I ate here in the past both times for lunch, and it was nearly inedible. When we came here passing through on a road trip with my wife and kids, I figured they can't possibly screw up breakfast. WRONG!! I ordered a Volcano and.the pancakes were so thick it was like eating a giant dough ball. I mean these were 1980's style pancakes that weighted like 3 lbs. The maple syrup was so thick and sweet it was way over the top. The bacon was.tiny and absolutely nearly burnt too a crisp. It kinda tasted like jerky it was so dry. My wife's egg Benedict was terrible she said she had to send it back for a refund. This is the end of the line with us and black bear diner. I will never eat in one again. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else, even Dennys is above this diner.
Love their food. I eat their quite often.
We have frequented Black Bear Diners for years. First time visiting this one. Likely our last. For a chain that is known for quality of food, cleanliness and great service, this establishment missed on two of three. This was a Friday morning visit about 8AM. Greeting was fine, we did wait a bit to be seated despite the restaurant being quite empty vs how Black Bears usually are (probably should have been a clue). Were seated in the farthest corner from the front door under an air conditioning vent when only 25% tables were full. The server was polite, attentive and cordial. Took our order and verified he had it all correct before leaving. I point this last part out because of what happened next. While our plates "looked" like what we ordered (photos included), it was all a facade. My chicken fried steak was good and the lone hot item we were served - the bright spot of the day - but my over hard eggs were over easy and ran all over the plate. My country potatoes, ordered crispy, were not only a mushy mess, they weren't even warm. I requested a single pancake vs toast (which there was no charge for surprisingly) to be delivered after the main plate but it was the first thing to come out. My wife's small omelette was OK but also barely warm, not hot. Her country potatoes, also ordered crispy, were cold, and mushy and the sourdough toast she ordered came out as white toast. Basically, the kitchen was an epic fail. The servers did their best but couldn't overcome the poor quality of the kitchen. Oh, the coffee was good.
Delicious food hungry Bear wonderful and nice cozy place to dine in
