I ordered rolls and sushi and it was really delicious.However, the sushi felt like bare rice that had not been seasoned with vinegar. I wondered if sushi was made with the same rice used in the rolls, without any additional seasoning. Still, I enjoyed it!

Eh, this place is ALRIGHT. nothing great with what i ate. I got the number 15 which is the dragon roll and my lady got the number 1 which was the volcano roll. The bathroom was nasty and so dusty, see video linked. the waiter was outside smoking when we arrived and never washed his hands when went back inside. Wont be back.

First of all, it's owned and run by a Korean couple, so it's not a real Japanese restaurant. Most, if not every sushi restaurant in Bakersfield is Korean owned and operated.How do I know?Look at the sushi on your plate.Is the nori wrapping the rice, or is the rice on the outside?Is there an overabundance of Mayonnaise based sauce?American and Korean style sushi are different from real Japanese sushi.I enjoy Bento Express. The male owner is friendly and engages in polite conversation. The chef is quite talented.The food is good.

Unagi don is overpriced as there was only a thin layer of eel and all rice underneath. Also they charge 3.5 for each cup of hot tea, which usually is free in a Japanese restaurant. The bento combo and fried rice are of good value
Don’t let the exterior fool you. Yes it’s a tiny restaurant with maybe 10 tables but the sushi is fresh and delicious. They even have hoedeopbap! It’s called spicy sashimi bowl on their menu. Not sure if the ownership is Korean but I was so pleasantly surprised to see it offered. It’s basically a Korean poke bowl or sashimi bibimbap.My boyfriend almost refused to go here because he thought it was takeout only from the name but even he walked out happy we decided on Bento Express for dinner.

Wonderful food here! Their bento boxes are pulled high. It's a lot of food. Their sushi rolls are amazing! Coming from Vegas, I'm used to quality sushi. This place is some of the best I've had. Definitely a favorite when I come to visit family.
We've been coming here since 2008. It's our favorite place for date night. We've moved out of state but always make sure to eat here when we visit family.
Absolutely awesome spot!! I'm soooo happy to finally find a place with both great sushi (for my partner) as well as delicious cooked plates for me. Usually, we find either great sushi or great cooked but not both. Perfect portions, absolutely delicious food (the gyoza is a must!) and comfortable ambience. This place feels like the real deal!
