I ordered the Dr Laura, it was delicious. The only reason it's not a 5 star is the meat portion is a lil weak, I had a couple bites without pastrami. Price point is a tad steep for the lack of meat. Bonnie pls put more meat in the Dr Laura's and you'll have a regular customer!

The sandwiches speak for themselves here! Named after Hollywood stars each sandwich is fun to order and delicious to eat. Service is efficient and polite and the atmosphere depends on the time of day. As a downtown sandwich shop, lunchtime is always busy and a bit of a wait but after the shop it is quite peaceful.

My friend and I decided to give Bonnie's Best Cafe a try. It is conveniently located near downtown Bakersfield. When we first walked in, it was just past 10:00 There were no other customers but the 2 ladies behind the counter were busy. I was a bit taken aback when one of the ladies told us to order here and pick up over there. She didn't greet us nor did she smile, she just handed us a to go menu. We both ordered a half sandwich and a cup of coffee. We had to serve ourselves coffee in a to go cup from a single carafe. There wasn't a choice of coffee blends. There is only a hand full of single serve creamers and sugar packets. The coffee was awful, too much of a nutty flavor. I couldn't finish my sandwich and decided to take it home. I walked up to the counter and before I could utter one word a different lady handed me a small plastic container without saying a word. Now, for the better part of this review. I ordered a roast beef sandwich (can't remember the name), the meat was delicious, with the right amount of mustard on a tender French roll. My friend ordered a (Tom Cruise), I can't remember what it was but she loved it.The table and chairs are vintage 1960/70's They are all different and brought back memories of a long ago childhood.Bottom line; I will only order online from this cafe.Oh, and one thing I dislike from any business is being asked for a tip before trying any of the food. The cafe didn't earn the generous tip I gave.

Let me paint you guys a picture. My dad is in surgery right now while I'm waiting to get the call to go get him. I'm driving around. Hungry but for a different plate than my usual and rowdy places. Drove by, never ever heard of this place before. Decided to stop and check it out. I walked in, greeted kindly, and asked what's the deal here, do I sit and get my order taken or order and sit. Total noob I know ? asked for recommendations and got two, The Tom cruise and Brummer. Ordered the Brummer and sat on a corner stool. Most relaxed while eating a simple yet tasty sandwich ever. I'd give em another try on a different sandwich or get familiar with their menu b4 coming again.
My dad and I always come here. The soups are very good and I love the atmosphere. This place has its own style..don't change that.

After wanting to check out Bonnie's Best Cafe for quite some time, we decided to come here for lunch and it was delicious! I ordered the Dr. Laura sandwich which came with hot pastrami, melted pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard on rye bread. On top of the 10/10 sandwich, Bonnie's Best also offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with friendly service, and I will definitely be coming back!
