I tried very hard to like this place. Although the atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is welcoming, the food was subpar. I ordered a variety of things. One was the chicken ramen with a soft boiled egg, which tasted like it was straight out of the Maruchan packet. Creamy chicken to be exact, and the egg was not soft boiled but seemed to be cured in salt. It had the consistency of a orange slice jelly candy. The other item was a salmon roll, it was ok. Raw room temp salmon rolled in seaweed and plain white rice, warm and falling apart. If it was seasoned, I couldn't taste it. My husband ordered a bowl of spicy bulgogi which he enjoyed until he discovered some hairs that did not belong to him. That being said, the Pepsi was crispy and fresh as well as the raspberry tea. The bathrooms are well kept. My husband witnessed a staff member do a rapid hand wash after using the facilities. Yes they used soap but he mentioned that the washing part was less than 10 seconds. 2 drinks, 1 roll, 1 bowl of ramen, 1 bowl of bulgogi, my subtotal was $50.85 +$4.20 tax and 15% tip, this meal came out to $63.31 which would have been perfectly fine if I didn't leave that place feeling like I could have made a better version at home for way less. Taking into consideration the convenience of not having to make it myself, still, With everything that I've mentioned, I give this review a generous 2 stars.

Hon Ramen in downtown Bakersfield is outstanding in all classifications. I absolutely loved this place; from the lovely decor, to the vibrant atmosphere, to the very friendly and helpful service, to the delicious ramen and roll. I had the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and a Rattlesnake Roll, along with a bottle of apple mango Soonhari soju. Highly recommended.

The service here is extremely terrible you either don't get attended to and you'll be waiting in line with there terrible system that's going off of a pencil and paper they need something better to attended for the people waiting and I got a server who's extremely rude and passive aggressive multiple times it's an older Asian women avoid her

I ordered take out here and the food was really good but the service was awful. I initally called to place and order through the phone and I told the worker “which ramen is the most popular and which one do you think is the best?” Because it was my first time trying the place and I wanted to know what to get. She was very rude and was like uh we are busy right now and that it was a rush (mind you it was like 7:40 on a Monday) she added that the tonkatsu was popular and I was taken aback so I told her I didn’t want to take up her time if she was busy. The rudeness was crazy but I was determined to try it since I finally had the time and I ordered online. Again the food was good but the service was trash. Except for the really nice older lady that smiled at me and pointed me in the right direction when I got there. Thank you to her and whoever made the food. The other server shouldn’t be answering the phone if she can’t handle the stress. And that’s coming from someone who serves tables too.

This was definitely one of the better ramen spots we've been to. The broth was so creamy and flavorful. The chasu was made perfectly. We ordered a few drinks and appetizers. The takoyaki was delicious and the chili oil they use for their pot stickers was so good! Music was a little loud. But overall service was very friendly and helpful

I’m really disappointed with my experience at Hon Raman Restaurant. The food might be decent, but the staff completely ruined the visit. From the moment I walked in, they acted uninterested and unprofessional. No greeting, no eye contact, and it felt like I was bothering them just by being there.
Simple questions were answered with attitude, and the service was slow even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. There was zero effort to make the customer feel welcome. I’ve been to plenty of ramen spots with great hospitality, so there’s no excuse for the way the staff treated guests here.
Overall, the service was rude, careless, and made the whole experience unpleasant. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely don’t recommend this place unless they seriously improve their customer service. Worst Experience

4.5/5 for the hon ramen but 4/5 for the karaage. The hon ramen was pretty flavorful and savory but the karaage had no taste. You had to dip it in the sauce to really enjoy it.

Best Ramen in Bakersfield. Had a nice vibe as well. Environment was very esthitic. Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen is the go to. Not too spicy, blends perfectly with the broth for that savory spicy taste. Got a side of the grounded garlic for that Garlicy taste. (Added some as I was eating throughout the meal). Finished the meal off with Green Tea Ice cream. Iykyk. Gets very busy after 4pm. No Surprise there. 🙌🏼🫰🏻
