My husband and I love yellow curry. We have only had Thai in Orange County and we had our share of favorite spots but since we moved to Bakersfield we hadn’t had any Thai until last night. I had a craving and so we came to Jasmine and The New Taste.
We were the first diners of the hour and then a few other guests came in and out mostly picking up their To-Go orders. One other group came in and dined-in but otherwise it was just my husband, our 3 year old and I.
We both ordered the yellow curry with chicken (mine mild and his medium) and a chicken fried rice for our daughter.
The staff was very friendly and served us quickly. Everything was hot, fresh and my husband and I both agreed that it was the best we had had. The flavor in the curry broth was amazing. Even the chicken fried rice was amazing. We ended up ordering an extra side of chicken since our daughter wanted more and they took care of that quickly. They even complimented us/her on how cute she was.
We had great food and even though it was a slow Saturday night, they took care of us and we felt really good about going back in the future. If you like yellow curry, this was the best we had had and we recommend it. Great food and service ??
Edit: The photo of my yellow curry features some of the chicken fried rice added to it. I saw my husband scoop some into his bowl and I thought it was brilliant.

What a fall from grace... my favorite Thai food is terrible. I ask for very mild coconut soup. I'm sick and it's always been mostly white coconut milk and helps with recovery. 2nd time in a row it was super red with floating red chili flakes. Now I can't eat anything after a 30 dollar purchase. Back to stockdale for the elephant is it again. What a bummer I suffer from lack of protein and really needed that tofu.

Pad see ew is usually my favorite. First time having it here it was just a tad bit too sweet. And their shrimp dumpling in curry was beyond sweet. Would like it if it was more on the savory side than the sweet.

Food is great. I usually don't care for orange chicken but theirs is an exception. It's really good. Not just soggy breading like many out there. It's crispy and has genuine orange flavor. The salad is wonderful. Rice as well. Their Thai tea is great too. Overall recommend going here. They have a lunch special which includes everything I mentioned, with the tea. Or various other combos. My only gripe is they close for a few hours in the afternoon. I believe it's 3 to 5pm. And that happens to be almost every time I'm downtown and wanting to get food from them.

Foods taste are okay. Drunken noodle was okay, no special taste. Panang beef curry was also okay and the curry sauce was very watery, different than the ones served in the Bay Area. Garlic chicken was also okay, no special taste. The garlic wasn’t too noticeable. Also, the “hot sauce” was very sour and salty?
Service was okay too. One of the waitresses was not too nice. The other lady (the one bit smaller), she’s very nice!
Parking was a bit challenging if this is your first time visit the restaurant, because you don’t know that you can park at the parking structure between 18th and eye street.
Parking: Parking garage free for first two hours. Parking on the street side is a bit challenging during rush hour.

The meal was fantastic! We had the chicken dumplings as a starter and they we're so juicy and flavorful. The mains we had were the driven noodles with pork and the pad see eww with tofu. They were excellent! 5 stars! The restaurant itself was a bit warm and service was a tiny bit slow. I'd go back anytime we are in the area, no questions though!
