I really loved this place at 1st, but now they have new people and the last couple weeks I've gone they have messed up on my coffees and it is really watered down especially today when I went. Very disappointed, looks like I'll be going to try Caffeine Supreme.

Wife and I travel down south and to Vegas quite often and we always make sure to make a pit stop here along the way. Drinks are always amazing! Definitely recommend checking out.

LOVE Java detour! Me and my bf come all the way from Delano and make sure to make a stop here. The staff is always so nice, and my bf who drives for door dash always says how they shower him in samples or new drinks to try. Love it here! ❤️

So went here to get a drink and found a surprise in it. Called them to just let them know. Not expecting anything from it and this "assistant manager" first accused me of lying and then gave me attitude. I let her know politely that I was just letting her know and that I didn't want anything for this. I get that people have bad days but when someone tries to help you, don't be rude. I will not go back.

I have lived in Bakersfield for many years. I work downtown and drive on California Ave a least a couple times a week. I would always pass by Java Detour, yet I would never stop. And boy do I regret it! I've been missing out on this gem for years. I have finally been enough times to confidently say, this is my go-to for a pick-me-up! This tiny drive-thru coffee shop is so awesome! The staff is always so nice. They always greet me with a smile and ask how my day is going. One thing I’ve learned is, always listen the their recommendations! If I didn’t do so, I would have never found my new favorite drinks.They have a "Butterfinger Frappe '' that is so good! it's literally like taking a sip of frozen blended candy deliciousness. I also love the caramel apple frappe but I'm not sure if that one is a seasonal drink or not? And don't get me started on the RedBull drinks! I don't even like RedBull from the can lol, but there's something about these that is unlike anything I've ever tasted. It's like a slushie with a kick of energy. I haven't tried any of their food items besides their banana muffins. I'll be honest they're not the best I've ever had but still good to have with a warm cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who lives in bakersfield, or even if you’re passing through! It’s worth the “Detour”. They’re conveniently located right off the freeway which is a plus. You won’t be disappointed!
I usually love this place… but today the barista was so rude. I always order an unsweetened iced tea. He gave me a sweet tea today. I took a sip and got his attention to ask for another without sugar. He told me that I shouldn’t even say the word “unsweetened” because he will only hear “sweetened” and give me a tea with sugar… I don’t know why he can’t just fully listen to the customer and why he had to have an attitude when I stated I had the wrong drink.

Went a few days ago for the first time and got a strawberry banana smoothie which was sooooo good and the lady who helped me was really sweet as well and gave my puppy a treat :) definitely will be back!

The lady was rude, she didn't listen to what we ordered. My drink was awful and didn't taste like banana at all. When I asked her for a straw she gave me a huge straw and when I asked for a sleeve because the cup was really hot she huffed and said it's a double insulated and I told her it's hot and she rolled her eyes at me. Will never go there again.
